Allpar's latest

Sorry if you have all read this already but i just read it today.

"An initial production run of a few thousand Challenger R/T models has reportedly already been pre-sold to dealers and, by dealers, to customers, with pricing of over $50,000 per vehicle; but Chrysler is considering using the MDS HEMI, a 3.5- or 4.0-liter V-6, and all-wheel drive as well. Those high-priced Challengers may well be equipped with a package similar to the SRT models - or better than the SRT - or they may be the result of high dealer marketup - or it may be that the rumor is simply wrong. "

I don't believe that there are any out there sold to customers or that they are over 50K USD.

The only thing that may be true is the price.

Unfortunately, the first year is going to be a seller's market and dealers will try to sell over MSRP by tacking on a "market adjustment."

I want an SRT Challenger in the worst way but I am not going to get ripped off by some greedy dealer. I'll wait for 2009. Some Dodge dealers are offering the SRT Charger (in its second year) for invoice or less.

Re: Allpar's latest

i totally agree with not paying MSRP just to have first on the block.I have a friend who works at a dealership where my deposit for a place in line for a
Challenger sits, he gave me my truck at cost but it is an 07 ram. Little different than the Challenger. Don't think he can quite pull off zero financing and dealer invoice on that one!Maybe i'll get an SRT8 Charger to tide me over next summer until the Challenger prices fall to normal.Thats a long wait....maybe it's not worth it to wait?

The way I look at it is that I waited a long time for Dodge to build the Challenger concept car and can wait 20 more months to get what I want for a fair price.

Although I like the SRT Charger, I would not buy one for only 1 year because of the 1st year depreciation hit.

WEll, Yahhh I agree. I mean if some are so in a hurry/rush to get a Challenger at a reasonable price, than no one with an arithmatic thinking mind [ i.e. saving some moolahh ] surely would not want to buy another new vehicle [ and like you said] take a big hit via depreciation !!! ..Heck, for anyone needing/wanting a new Dodge Challenger...while needing a vehicle for basic transportation; heck just find a beater type vehicle to get them by [ even if the vehicle needs several hundred to say $1-2000] !!!
