Is anyone getting the dealer runaround?

I've been to 4 Dodge dealers and no one seems to know what their talking about. I get way more accurate info on these forums. I find it sad that I/we know more about the production, timetables, and ordering timeframe than these dealers do. One dealer where I live outside of Santa Barbara has been pretty good about keeping contact with me, but her knowledge is very limited and nothings been firmed out yet on ordering an '09, or even when I can place the order.

Other dealers have not responded towards my e-mails. It was like they'd say initially: "hey, I'll find out and get back with you," then a month later, no response after a second e-mail asking a status on the first reply given. UGH! Anyone else going through this? Has anyone placed an order for a 2009 with a manual trans yet? For those getting correspondence from dealers, what are they saying about when the order banks will open for the 09's? Thanks for the help everyone.

...my guess, most dealers/salespeople are under informed....it is only one car (literally) for them to sell, they want to sell mini-vans etc everyday, not wasting too much time explaining a car they probably won't get anyway....a salesman wants to sell what's there today..when the lines start flowing and supplies build, they will be eager to sell

You may be very right here My old dealer still has a deposit of mine for almost a year now I was getting an 08 but as we all know they all went over msrp which I wont pay or all the 08'swent to the dealers friends.
I bumped my deposit with them over to an 09 Since then no calls what so ever so I ordered an 09 from another dealer out of state Bob Fredericks from Red letter Dodge as many others have since he emerged on RLD.

Not ever'nt a call from the old dealer and I had spent hours with these people over the past 12 months calling and stopping in dealing directly with the sales manager !
It is all about the here and now with the typical salesman it really seems that way.
That hasn't been the case at all with my new order Thru Bob Fredericks from RLD he calls often and has my order solely due to what I would call damn good customer communications, and a fair price.

So my old local dealer looses a sale for many reasons but foremost is the lack of communications. Now to get my deposit back, ugh!

I hope this isnt happening all over the country with this car but I fear it is.I am sure Im not the only one pimped out by a dealer who dosnt have a clue.
I hope this works out for everyone !

I do have a order in to be called in the min the 09 's have access to ordering they should be online to take order for the 09 this week I or next at the latest.
The word is the start of May.
I have a date I just cant say!

I'm sure by law they are not allowed to keep your deposit. I'm sure I've read that somewhere. So, who exactly are you dealing with now? What state is Bob in? Thanks

Re: Is anyone getting the dealer runaround?

WHy deal with someone that is giving a run around? Sometimes it takes a while for the word to come down. I will be getting my Challenger from Don Conrad at Champion Jeep/Dodge in Barrington, Il. No hassle, no BS.

Re: Is anyone getting the dealer runaround?

My guy is clueless too. He's not giving me the run around though, he just tells me I don't know. I've been keeping him up to date on the 08 order I have placed. He said that Dodge just isn't really giving out that much info, and that some dealers won't admit it because they fear they'll lose the sale.

....if he placed your order, it should have a VON # by now and that will eventually result in a VIN # if he has an allocation.....the car should have a code of some sort by now....if not, get your $$$ back and shop elsewhere....I still believe there will be dealers wanting to dump the 08 due to the 09/6spd etc etc....

...if your car has a VON #, the dealer should be able to check the cars status online anytime

...several scenarios

...he possibly sold more than his allocation, and is hoping to roll you over into an 09 so he won't lose the sale

...he doesn't want to committ to you, so he can hopefully sell it for more $$$ on Ebay/another party when it arrives

...or, he may just be a pi$$ poor saleman and has his head up his BVDs

...one dealer I am familiar with has 5 sold, but only have a vin# for 3 so far....one is D status, the other 2 are C status, and the last 2 are BG or BX I think

He's in Ohio Cleveland area here is his contact info I wouldn't trust anyone but him after all this BS as of late.
I do know his list is growing fast good luck.
He's the guy if you want an 09 and he will deliver to your door or ship to a local dealer of your choice n/c.

I usually wouldn't pass on a recommendation on such an expensive item but when your dealing with a guy who golfs with all the big wigs you know he has an inside track, and will do what he says!
I pass this info along with hopes it helps some of you get what you want with out all the hassle, plus he knows and shares all info he gets immediately and some of that info has been priceless. He sent me a horde of brochure's,etc last week as well. This guy is a PRO!Hell Fredericks Sr was a big tack racer back a few decades ago and has seen it all so has Bob jr its like getting instant provenance with the car and thats what I value not just some guy who sells cars.

Bob has lived it since his dad involved him years ago as a kid.

I hope this helps we all deserve a fair shake here after 3 years of waiting.

Bob Frederricks JR

It's not that bad. The dealership has only sold 1, and that's to me. it's in D status and I have the VIN. I'm talking about updates on production, when the order banks opened up he didn't know. The dealer is a good family friend and I keep him updated on the "rumors" going on here. I got a phone call yesterday about the status tracking website for the 08s. They just aren't getting info all that quick!
