I went to the askdrz.com site to ask if the 2008 Challenger would be a manual Trans...automatic Trans.... or both, and here was their reply:
Dear Everret, Thanks for contacting Dr.Z. Your message has been forwarded to us forresponse. It?s a fact; Dodge Challenger has officially received the green lightfor production!!!! The Dodge Challenger concept was shown in January 2006, with great fanfare and public response. The all-new Dodge Challenger will make its debut as a 2008 model, in calendar-year 2008. True to both its historical and modern concept car roots, the 2008 Dodge Challenger will be offered as a two-door, HEMI V-8 powered, manual-transmission, and rear-drive coupe.

I decided to try the Dr Z question route myself, hoping the 5 Speed Manual was a mis-print, but...
My question... Original Message Follows: ------------------------ New Vehicle Information - ASKDRZ Brand Site Brief Description: Challenger Question - Will both the 5.7 Hemi with MDS and 6.1 Hemi be offered in the new Challenger R/T as well as 5 Speed Autostick or 6 Speed Manual options? BTW, Thanks DCX for making the Challenger production announcement! DCX response... Dear Allen: Thanks for contacting Dr.Z. Your message has been forwarded to us for response. The all-new Dodge Challenger will make its debut as a 2008 model, in calendar-year 2008. It will have the available 5.7-liter or SRT-engineered 6.1-liter HEMI® V-8 engines coupled to either a five-speed manual transmission or five-speed automatic transmission with Auto Stick Check it out at www.dodge.com Thanks again for your "Z"mail. Sincerely, Pat Senior Staff Representative Dr.Z's Customer Action Team I will probably opt for the 5 Speed Automatic, but I am amazed that they would go with a 5 Speed Manual instead of a 6 Speed... Re: Ask Dr. Z responses
Here's my question and what i got in return:
Dear James: At this time, no pricing or production data have been configured. Please stay in contact with Dodge.com and your local Dodge dealership for updates. MY QUESTION: What will the range of the base price be for the Dodge Challenger? |

Re: Ask Dr. Z responses
Was browsing the AskDrZ responses for the Challenger, and came across this one:
Q: "What kind of volumes are you projecting for the Dodge Challenger?" A: "Currently, there's no available information on production volumes for the 2008 Dodge Challenger. But we'll certainly do our best to satisfy market demand when the time comes..." Does anybody have any ideas if this is a sign that they plan on producing more than just a limited number, or is this just a cookie-cutter response? To me it seems that if they had planned on a limited-production vehicle, the response may have read "...The 2008 Dodge Challenger will be available on a limited basis..." or something like that. Or I could just be on glue, and am trying to read WAY too much into this... |

If so it would seem to confirm a 'Cuda concept exists, something rumored but not yet shown... XS
