awesome price news from hemidakota on the srtforms site

hemidakota posted this in the srtforms "future products" thread:

UPDATE - 2008 Challenger MSRP prices will be between 19K -26K dollars based on engine option and tranny selection. Remember, there is only 30K units planned for the first round.

he's a very reliable source if you dont know the screen name and he has been right with pretty much everything to do with the challenger so far. he's posted on this site before too a few times.

Re: awesome price news from hemidakota on the srtforms site

If true and I hope it is, then there will surely be a 6 cylinder offered as the base motor and the 5.7 as the equivalent of the Mustang GT at $26k. The 6.1 would pretty much have to be over $26k I think. If true then there is a good chance of eventually having a 6.4 or better motor to compete at a higher price with the GT500 and any LSX Camaro. Again, great news if true.

Re: awesome price news from hemidakota on the srtforms site

He probably meant to say that Hemidakota also posted a snippet alluding to this particular news on our site this morning as well.

Also, one of the local television stations in my area mentioned this exact same pricing structure during a news featurette they presented on their station last night. Since the featurette was plagued with numerous errors with regard to the 'Challenger' concept, I contacted the television station this morning and left a voice-mail for the reporter who had written/produced the news featurette...trying to extract from him where he obtained this particular pricing information, as well as wanting to 'set him straight' with regard to the incorrect information he had already publicly aired. I'm still awaiting his response.

Exactly... Take that news for what it's worth.... Here is the article from that news report, I would say he (the reporter) was guesstimating the price... if anything.
If you're in the market for one of those new 2008 model Challengers, expect to pay between $19,000 and $26,000, depending on what engine you get and other options.

Sounds like Ford prices...for the Mustang, I guess he thought they were all the same.

Hold It !! You can't buy a Honda Civic for that kind of money. What's this thing going to be made of, cardboard?????????? I'm not looking forward to seeing what kind of quality will be sacraficed to make this a $20,000 car.

The Charger starts at $23,245. And I'm pretty sure the quality on it is just fine. Although, as has been pointed out, the idea that the Challenger will start at $19k is VERY suspect.
