That would be a good idea, but im not sure if you can do that with this color. You may go into D status before ordering is available. Good idea though

Re: B5 Blue

So I went by the dealer near us and the salesman said that he would not be charging any markup for the B5 Blue SRT8 or RT. I gave him my info and told him to call me the minute the order banks open up. He said MSRP - I can live with that for the B5 Blue. Now we just need to wait and see if he is true to his word. Something tells me he will be.

Re: B5 Blue

Did he say what the mark up for the R/T Classic in B5 blue would be over a regular R/T or if they would be offering B5 blue on the non classic R/T ?

Re: B5 Blue

I have an idea that the B5 car will also require an additional ordering code for the option package, in addition to the B5 color. So ordering and then changing your order may not work. It would be a risky move IMO.

If the dealer is willing to sell at MSRP, have him draw up a sales order and simply put "MSRP" as the selling price. Give him a $500 refundable deposit and have the order signed by management. You should be set.

No "mark up" for the SRT Spring Special or RT Classic B5 Blue --- although Dodge may charge a bit more for the paint code, I do not know. He also did not mention if B5 would be available after that for regular RT, SRT, or SE. He did mention a 10% deposit (refundable) (that won't happen but I will give them a grand at order time). He is going to email me as soon as he can place the order for B5 and I will go in and give him a deposit. I will also have them note MSRP at the time we sign the contract.

I understand that your dealer is offering you the Classic with no markup over the MSRP. I think what SRT-6 was asking is what will the MSRP difference be between the R/T available now and the Classic R/T. I've been wondering that myself.

According to Motor Trend, here's what we can expect to get in the Classic:

"From what we understand of the brochure, included in the package is the B5 livery, 20-inch chrome wheels, scripted Challenger side badges, wide side stripes and performance vented hood. Inside the cabin, blue trimming covers the dash with more pronounced sport seats keeping the driver and front passenger secure."

How much will all this cost? The 20" chrome wheels available on the R/T are a $1350 option. I expect the Classic package, with even better chrome wheels among those other things, will be in the $2000+ range. With many existing R/Ts on the lot stickered at $38K+, the Classic could top $40K MSRP. Ouch.

I've about decided to forgo the Classic option and make my best deal on an R/T on the lot. Then let Ridergraphix sell me some stripes and make my own "Classic!" The Heritage wheels are available in the Mopar catalog for $1500 a set. I don't expect the first set of tires to last too long, anyway!

Re: B5 Blue

That is correct - from what I gather the RT is going to be called the classic while the SRT is the spring special.
