Best Locking Gas Cap?

Been trying to do searches for the best locking gas cap, but I keep seeing the Mopar one come up, but it doesn't have the tether to the body.

Any recommendations?

I'd like to know this as well. The plastic one with the little keyhole in the middle is really lame.

All I ever found was the Mopar one and the Stant (same as mopar) found at auto parts stores. Maybe check amazon.

Good luck

From all my research all I find is the Mopar, Stant and CST one, but none of them have the tether.

In some random Jeep forum, people said the same thing, but one person suggested taking the tether off the OEM cap and then drill a small hole into the handle part of the locking cap, and then put the tether into that.

Anyone know someone at mopar? Make a locking cap tethered suggestion! :P

Just do like I did, drill a hole in the Mopar or Stant one on the top of the wing half way between the lock and the break over edge and plug the factory tether back in.
I think it was a 1/4" hole but you can measure the hole on the original one with a drill bit.

I'm guessing you're trying to keep people from putting stuff into your gas tank?

Siphoning from a newer car is nearly impossible, they have a baffle in there that prevents it...

None of them have the tether, but we stock the Mopar one. I personally have it and am glad I bought it.

I'm just paranoid of jealous jerks stuffing stuff down into my car.

I went with the Stant lock cap, and then drilled a hole in the top part. Grabbed the tether from my OEM cap and put it in there. Works like a charm!

Sad we have to do that though!

The Mopar locking gas cap is made by Stant so it's one and the same. To tether the cap, I did what Waumo did. I pulled the tither off of the factory cap, inserted a drill bit into the tether hole of the stock cap until I found a drill bit that's the exact same diameter. I then drilled a hole in the Stant cap, pushed in the tether cable and it's done. The entire process took less time than it did to type this post. With premium gas costing over $4 a gallon here, people are back to stealing gas. If they discover that they can't siphon gas out of the newer cars, they might get mad and dump foreign objects down the filler neck.

The Mopar locking cap often doesn't..........

If you work it right you can easily get it off without unlocking it. Try it.
