well i got a fix for ya. Just scratch out the X in SXT and pencil in the R. Then put ya a set of these on the back.

Then you will have a SRT with balls

Re: Best way to learn manual transmission?

I don't think anyone will go wrong regardless of their transmission choice. The 6-speed TREMAC has been proven in the Viper and the automatic has been used in all of Chryler's SRT cars for the past three years.

This is what Muscle Car Power magazine (July 2008 issue) had to say about the automatic:

The Challenger SRT8 puts power to the ground via an electronically-controlled five-speed automatic, with a lock up torque converter and AutoStick. AutoStick gives the driver the ability to select a higher or lower gear while the transmission controller calibration prevents fuel shutoff during power shifts."

"The W5A580 transmission is intended to provide the kind of performance feeling a muscle car should have...The setup is designed for smooth full-throttle launches, quick wide-open throttle up-shifts and quick two-step, kick-down shifts that are smoother than anything a hydraulic transmission could offer...Extensive use of an electronically modulated converter clutch improves fuel economy in normal, everyday driving conditions."

Re: Best way to learn manual transmission?

Dude I HATE those! It's the most retarded thing on this planet. The worst part is when someone has em and I have a little kid with me. I really think those should be banned.......Rant over!

Cuda-I was really upset at the auto initially, but now some things have changed and I'm really liking the idea. I've only had manuals and this will be my first auto car. Glad to see someone liked it as well. I honestly think my MPG will go up with the 6.1 compared to the 4.6 I have now.

Re: Best way to learn manual transmission?

I think all of those things are stupid. Including the propellers and crap like that.

I'm sure the auto won't be "bad" at all. With the F1 tires and everything else it seems like the reviews say the best times they got launching it were just slamming the pedal into the ground with ESP off. Not using brake torque or anything like that -- just stomping it yielded the best times and due to the tires it hooked up right away.

From: 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Full Test

Best acceleration runs result from merely stomping the throttle to the floor from idle with ESP off. No brake torque at all. With the 3.06:1 rear axle ratio and 3.58 1st gear in the five-speed automatic, the car produces textbook-perfect, bog-free, wheelspin-free launches. Manual upshifts with the console-mounted Autostick are blazingly fast, or the transmission does it for you right at the 6,200-rpm redline.
Sounds like some fun to me. Though I'm really excited about the 6-speed manual now. Seems like it may be more "fun" to drive even if the autos will be blazing me at the track until (hopefully) I can get the hang of shifting the beast.

The SRT's mileage will not be a shock to me. One of my cars is a customized 1997 Ford Thunderbird with a 4.6L. Because of a Superchip, I use premium and only average about 15/20 mpg.

Re: Best way to learn manual transmission?

Yea I get about 14/23 now, not the greatest for a mustang but it sure is fun! I normally only drive in town, so with the auto I won't be revving out the gears lol...... to much

Re: Best way to learn manual transmission?

The G6 GTP I drive says I get about 19 mpg and 95% of my driving is highway driving. I figure I won't get too much worse on my SRT8 so the only difference is going to really be going from regular to premium.
