Exclamation Beware: Orders are NOT guaranteed!

FYI to anyone out there that has an 08 Challenger on order. The orders are not guaranteed. As of yesterday, I had a Challenger on order. Got the VON, "C" status. My name and address on the car in the Dodge system. Manager called me and said they were taking my name off the order and replacing it with the owner"s name. This after they took my deposit over two years ago for the car, we agreed on a price and they signed a purchase order with all the details. I called Dodge and asked if the dealers could do this. They said yes. So your order is open to the highest bidder, no matter what the dealer may have told you or how much money you have put down. It is too late for me, but I strongly suggest to anyone who has a Challenger on order, call Dodge, make sure your name is still on the car and beg them to change their policy.

Re: Beware: Orders are NOT guaranteed!

If my Chrysler Dealer pulled that one when I ordered my '06 300C/SRT8 (first order in the State, Mass) I would have napalmed the Deatership.

He wouldn't have, anyway. I ordered mine in Jan '06, and provided him with the Order Codes. He had no idea what kind if 300 it was. Not too soon after that, Manny Ramirez of Red Sox fame placed another order for a Silver one.

His and mine were the first two to arrive in Massachusetts. Arrived 10 Months later.

Mine was sold at a Discounted price, and No Gas Guzzler Tax.

Which stealership is that so we will know who to avoid. If you don't want to say their name, what city and state are they in??

Re: Beware: Orders are NOT guaranteed!

That sucks for sure. I was the first in Canada to put money on my 2005 300C SRT8 only to be told it was taken from me. There were 98,000 orders for 252 cars. I ended up getting it after the Ontario Chrysler rep went to the very top of Chrysler. I'd certainly try to go to the top if I were you.

Your story is not unique either. There were many people who ended up getting a 2006 because of dealers like this.

Re: Beware: Orders are NOT guaranteed!

I'm not suit-happy by any means, but I think I'd be contacting a lawyer on that one.
