Bob Nardelli will be the end of Chrysler...............

It is already starting, Chrysler will no longer lease cars. He is a cost cutter, that is how he increases profit. As if the Chrysler products were not already made with cost cutting in mind, now they will be even worse. I love the Challenger, very nice car, but will never buy a Chrysler product with this guy running the show.

Good luck all

Re: Bob Nardelli will be the end of Chrysler...............

Some old news, but don't blame Nardelli. They're simply ahead of the curve. The rest of the big 3 will likely be following up very shortly. Heck, GM is already starting to fall into line as well with ending GMAC leases in Canada. I'm sure that GMAC will cut off leasing in the US soon as well.

It's not their fault, its basic economics. They can't sell the droves of SUV/Trucks they are getting back on their lots courtesy of leases. No one wants them. They have to stop the money sink somehow, and cutting off leases and making buying the vehicle more appealing is the way to do it. If you really want to lease, you'll still be able to lease courtesy of independent leasing companies.

Give it a few weeks and you'll have to copy/paste your post to GM and Ford related message boards.

Re: Bob Nardelli will be the end of Chrysler...............

It's not Nardelli because all of the manufacturers are going to revise their leasing options.

On one hand it's a smart move because it takes away a huge risk that the vehicle will be worth less than predicted at the beginning of the lease.

On the other hand it's a bad move because most Americans rent everything in there life and like to talk money in terms of monthy budget with no reguards to total costs which plays directly into the dealers hands. This also forces the person into a new car much more often than a person buying one typcally does.

It also doesn't help that Imports are killing the North American market. I'm a long time Mopar fan but hell better cars are being built for less money and the people building them are working for next to nothing. The so called Big 3 are starting to get the idea, but unfortunately long time employees are going to suffer.

Re: Bob Nardelli will be the end of Chrysler...............

Venthos was exactly right. You can't blame Nardelli. Leases for domestic cars are going to dry up, at least for a while. I called a guy I know that owns a local leasing company. He no longer leases to the public, only large fleets to large companies. He was getting hosed on personal leases.

I was very much prepared not to like Nardelli, based on what I read about Home Depot. But I've read quite a bit about him since he took over Chrysler, and I have to say I've changed my opinion of him. Maybe he's in his element more at Chrysler, has a better board backing him, whatever. But I think he's doing the best he can under very difficult circumstances. I say give the man a couple of years then we can judge him.

Re: Bob Nardelli will be the end of Chrysler...............

Sorry, his damage will not be seen for a couple years minimum. He will look like the hero the first couple years, then when he has no more fat to cut he will keep cutting anyway no matter who it hurts. You will see, believe me I went through it, not fun. He is the most unloyal, dishonest, ungrateful person I have ever worked with.

Re: Bob Nardelli will be the end of Chrysler...............

He ruined Home Depot for the employees, as soon as he can break the unions down he will kill Chrysler too.

Re: Bob Nardelli will be the end of Chrysler...............

Home Depot seems to be thriving and growing, at least up here in Canada. Hopefully Chrysler will be too, 5-10 years down the road.

Re: Bob Nardelli will be the end of Chrysler...............

Nardelli knows manufacturing (G.E) Not retail (Home Depot). Even though he increased profits/sales for Home Depot straight across the board on immense levels.

Chrysler has small cars coming very soon, in cahoots with Nissan and VW..not TaTa or Mitsubishi junk.

They also just posted a 1.1 Billion dollar profit..and check out the 09 Patriot interior updates!

(Remember, Nardelli and Press met with the engineers and ALL cars at their Michigan proving grounds) and drove each car, after this, they immediately ordered over 200 million in upgrades!!

They also ordered for more sound deadening in the Avenger, so much so, that you probably won't even be able to hear it running.
