I am in southern sask, won't say where. I worked for a dealer (who shall remain nameless) and at one point totalled off my demo in a really bad accident. The dealer kept the car, fixed it up and sold it as new and never told the buyer that it had even been in an accident at all.

not much surprises me anymore.

The dealer I am talking to tells me they're only getting one and that I am getting it for msrp, whatever that final dollar ends up being. But Until the keys are in my hand I am not holding my breath.

Not sure if you want to disclose but: what kind of info are you getting about pricing comared to MSRP? Are you talking to the guys in regina that own dealerships for dodge and most of the imports?
I'm not sure what other dealerships they own but without naming names they are right on the main drag by CT. I was told 20 over MSRP but i'm not sure exactly how serious that price was cause when CDN MSRP was released i was sure to send it to him and received no response. I want to buy my 09 there because he's a good friend of mine but we'll see how that goes. The New dealership here hired all Chev guys so i go in there and educate them on Chargers , 300's and the Challenger everytime. They aren't much help.

Southern Sask.... I lived in Estevan for 4 years.... 99-03.

There would only need to be 5% GST paid at the border and some federal inspections done. Dodge doesn't not honor any cross border warranty on new or used products. So extended warranty would have to be purchased.Extended warranty can run about 3K, So 40K USD compared to 45KCDN with our dollar almost being par hardly seems like the work(travel time , gas, border hassle, inspections here, who knows how far you need to go to get it) if there is one available up here.

Our emmisions are non existant in Alberta and Sask. I think only Ontario and BC have actual testing. I assume all models will have the same emmisions standards.

I don't know a lot about it but the issues are usually around things like bumper standards being different and things like that. As far as I know our emissions standards are the same as yours.

There is a list of cars that can be imported duty free, typically north american made (regardless of brand) and provided they meet canadian safety standards. There is a minimal fee (about $200) plus a safety inspection (about $400) and thats about it as far as the gov't is concerned.

The problem is that the gov't requires a piece of paper from the manufacturer to confirm that the car hasn't been recalled. In order to stop the flow of cars from the US to Canada, the manufacturers sometimes delay the delivery of that document of months after the purchase and in some cases have refused to provide it. To add insult to injury, the manufacturers are sometimes voiding the warranty if the car is imported to Canada. Both of these things are incredibly ironic when the car is actually made in canada in the first place.

I believe that if a dealer imports a car it must still meet the safety standards and they would be required to import it as a purchased vehicle and register it within a defined period of time. They cannot turn around and sell it as a new vehicle. There would also likely be issues about warranty.

I would be very careful about buying an '08 Challenger from a canadian dealer if it was a US model. Given all the hype about the special canadian "500" badging it shouldn't be too hard for a person to tell the difference unless the dealer goes the extra step to put fake badging on it.

Re: Canadian Info

With the guys at work here there have been about 6 vehicles imported from the US in the last year. 2 2008 Harley 350's , 1 2007 Harley Ford , 1 WRX STI , 1 2002 Firehawk and 2 06 Chevy diesels. All these guys aren't having any trouble getting recall clearance letters from local dealers or even one provided at the dealership(U.S.) on some occasion.

I don't think my contact is looking to rebadge, just resell. We'll have to see if they can cash in on gouging.I hope not.

Re: Canadian Info

Cars that sell originally in Canada have to have bi-lingual instructions on the sun visors
and the speedometers are metric. If you bring a car into Ontario from the U.S. you have to upgrade for these items.

Re: Canadian Info

Most speedos display both mph and km/h so no issues there. The daytime running lights need to be activated or installed for a small fee. I remember an issue with the position of the anti theft or something on Toyota Tundras but there was getting to be a backlog of trucks sitting at border crossings so federal eased up on it and let them pass.

So anyway.... any idea on 09 pricing?

Re: Canadian Info

No idea about 09 pricing in Canada. They won't be announcing that in the States for another few weeks so i am sure it will be after that by they time we get our pricing.

Matter of fact, its still only rumours about 08 pricing (the dodge site still says nothing) and of course no info when or what we'll be able to order... or if.

Re: Canadian Info

IS ResumeSpeed or anyone else that is connected able to confirm the start date for production? 14th? 21st?

Any more leaks about Canadian pricing? interesting that the media is saying Chrysler has announced pricing but neither the dodge site or any of the branded advertising have confirmed that info.
