Re: Canadian Info

thanks Toronto SRT8, I've seen those before but yours are much clearer and easier on my old eyes. LOL

Its actually these documents that are making this confusing for me. If they've sent this out to the dealers, why haven't they updated the website with price info?

And how can they have a 2008 SRT8 msrp of 44,995 for a car that doesn't exist. If we can get a regular srt8 OR a "500" then the two prices make sense but from what i hear they are only making the "500's".

Oh yeah and the gas mileage isn't matching up with the american numbers either.
A US gallon is 3.78 litres, while the canadian/imperial gallon is 4.54 litres
So... 13mp(us)g = 3.43 miles per litre
3.43 mpL converted to mp(imp)g = 15.6

13mpg doesn't translate to 17 mpg
and the highway difference is even worse.

still confused....

Re: Canadian Info

Yes, those are the same documents that I posted back on March 31,2008. They still seem to beg more questions than answers. I am confident in the source, but as I said in the past, It upsets me about the upcharge. Who demanded the "special" limited edition for Canada. 99% of us would have been content with just the "lowly" SRT8. This in my opinion is just Chrysler trying to scam every cent out of these cars. I stand a very good chance of getting one of these 2008's, but I am seriously considering either buying it to resell or passing and getting the 2009 with manual transmission. I think as far as a weekend driver the 2009 would be more fun and I would worry less about parking lot dings etc. Plus, if I wanted to change something to make it more my style, I could without worrying about value etc. Also, for the cost of the 500 badges, I could drive it all summer and not cost a dime in gas.

Just my two cents... while I still have two cents to rub together!

Re: Canadian Info

I hear ya rumblebee.
Like you I have a better than average chance of getting one.... sometime.. hopefully in 2008 LOL. But if the car has the extra charges and the gas tax (up to $3,000 and no one has seemed to answer that for me) it could be $52K + options + taxes!!

Frankly as nice as it is there are other (more powerful / more valuable) cars for that kind of money. Heck I can get a late 60's camaro vert with all original numbers for about that kind of coin.

Time will tell.

I wonder why the much higher price in Canada ? U.S. is @ $38,000 plus GG charge (Don't know about delivery)
When this Canadian price of $45,000 was announced, the U.S. dollar was worth $1.02 Canadian. That's $760. additional // no sweat, that would make it @ $39,000. // not $45,000. The only other differences are the L.E. 500 charges which were added to after that $2,000. delivery $1300. (it's built here ???), and the GG charge of $3300. (I think). So all these things are charged for in addition to the original Canadian pricing of $45,000. Considering the difference in the dollar making a total difference of only $760. why is the base price $7,000. higher in Canada, plus the additional charges ???
I have the first one coming to my dealer, and I'm still taking it, but I'm upset that the price difference makes no sense to me.
The only thing I can figure is that the U.S. price was set, then Dodge seen that people were willing to pay more for them (being raised at the dealership), and decided to make some of that up in Canada. 500 cars times $7,000. =$3.5Million. Nothing else makes sense about this price difference.

Re: Canadian Info

I can give them some slack on the GG tax, they don't control it.

I can reluctantly give them some slack on the delivery being so much higher in Canada.

But the extra $2,000 for the limited edition "500" is the only way to buy the car
so the base price is $47,000

Oh yeah, I agree on that, I just don't understand the initial base price increase. We're paying additional for the LE 500 on top of that !!

M2B //Oh yeah, I agree on that, I just don't understand the initial base price increase.Without any justification, we're paying $7,000 more, when the dollar value difference only amounts to $760. I think it's great to have the LE 500 coming here, and especially having the bolstered seats, but that's an additional charge , of $2,000 that has nothing to do with the original increase. Still GOTTA HAVE IT !!

Well, the thing that seems irrational is Chrysler,Dodge,or whomever's idea it was to attach the "500" label to this Challenger SRT8 Canadien model to pay some sort of homage to another iconic model :the Dodge Charger 500 ! If "they" want to homage it or honor a specific Charger then ,by all means do it; and do it right, as in a Charger Coupe...and leave the Challenger alone !!! Isn't Nardelli the current Honcho aka CEO ? How can the Chrysler Canadien CEO allow this too ? This is just the kind of corporate rational that consumers wonder about and can start a decline in consumer confidence !!! Burningman's car, Where are you ? Oh Y-ahhh :

Re: Canadian Info

Does anyone know when the 08 challengers can be ordered? I put a deposit down on one last year and the dealer seems to be clueless about the car, when it will come, pricing etc.
