Re: Canadian Info
I really wish we had that law to protect the consumer against price gouging. Fortunately I dont have that issue with my order, but look at the Shelby GT500's. They are like $10-15k over MSRP. Thats BS

Re: Canadian Info
Ok.
I just called the BC New Car Dealers association and I was told that there are no laws in BC to protect consumers against dealer price gouging. The girl on the phone told me that the dealers are allowed to set their own prices as it was all about negotiation and that MSRP means SUGGESTED retail price. It does not mean that it is the price that they have to sell it at. What a bunch of BS... I know that I am going to get it up the backside for this car now! |

Re: Canadian Info
It is only a suggested retail price and realistically the mark up and gouging on other products is often worse than on cars, but there is something we love to hate about car salesmen!
With other cars you can usually negotiate msrp or less just by being informed, look into things like carcostcanada.com or even by actually going to Ontario to buy it if a local dealer won't match msrp. For something like the Challenger, I suspect that few will sell at msrp and even some in Ontario might find creative ways around the law.

Re: Canadian Info
I guess its a free market and that is how it works, but I dont have to like it.
I am just sour here because when I put my deposit here 18 months ago when the car was announced there was no mention from the dealer about asking higher than msrp. Now I dont have any other choice. If there is anyone out there in Canada that will sell me this car at MSRP please PM me. Thanks |

Re: Canadian Info
I hear ya.
My dealer has continued to assure me that I will get the first one they get, even if they only get one and that I will get it for MSRP. But... until its in my driveway I can't be totally sure its going to happen. It doesn't help that we still don't have anything official from Chrysler announcing how much is MSRP. If its going to be pushing mid 50's then there may be some existing commited buyers who bow out and that could definitely open things up for you if you're into it for that much.

Re: Canadian Info
has anyone given any more thought to the gas mileage difference question?
some may remember the document that was leaked to Chrysler Canada dealers that had some prices and mpg on it, but that Chrysler and the dealers have never followed up to confirm.... So that document said 17mpg city and 23mpg hwy. The Canadian/Imperial Gallon is about 20% larger than a US Gallon but these mpg ratings are much more than 20% higher than the 6.1 mpg ratings for the US. 17mpg(canadian) is about 20% better than the US city mileage for the 5.7. And the hwy rating for the 5.7 in the US is 23mpg same as the sheet said for the Canadian numbers. Does anyone know if they're doing something different with the Canadian 6.1Hemi for 2008 compared to the US version? Or is that leaked document a fake? Or does Chrysler really not know how to calculate MPG consistently from one news release to another? Very confused.

Re: Canadian Info
Good News. My dealer still says I am number one and the deal is still at msrp. No build dates or VIN# or anything like that but still a positive sign none the less.
Due to my inability to count chickens before they hatch I am keeping the dealer's name to myslef for now. But once its a done deal I will either tell everyone here who it is and if they are a straight up dealer that we can rely on for MSRP prices for high demand cars.... or not. Hopefully only another month or so.
