Just finished at my dealership. I am told that there are two runs of SRT challengers before they cut over to the R/T's in summer (and something called a R/T 500). Then production on the srt's start again with the manual in the fall. First shipment is in April, mine comes in late June/July. I threw in the towel on getting a B5 blue super bee (told that after the car show I could get number 700/1000) but I really don't want that one. Have you ever watched how many people get in and out of that thing in just 15 minutes?

He was on the phone with Dave Buckingham who told him I would indeed get my car. Long story short I'll find out by June if it's just another big carrot or not. This is probably the 10 vehicle I purchased from them and I have no reason not to believe. We'll see.

Either way, it's interesting.

edit: Pricing for Canada = March 14th (or so I was told)

The Dodge.com (USA) website lists the car at ~$USD40,000.00. How did it jump from USD$37,500.00 to the listed figure so fast? Anyway, with the US dollar and Canadian dollar being on par I would have expected the figure listed on the US site to be around what the Canadian price should be.

The earlier lower amount did not include the $2100 gas guzzy tax !!!

Yes, I believe it's $1000 gas guzzler tax. It is on the Charger SRT-8.........

ok , i was at the auto show today , to go drool at the new ride .... what a beast ..................WOW....... :-*
..so , if this is correct , i have a good shot at getting my ride , and on msrp to top it off.(price gouging is illegal here in canada)
chrysler has bumped up prduction to 7400 units for the 2008 batch of the chally srt8's ... ALLLLLL 5 star dealers have allocation for a confirmed two units.
thats it , only two. .. now in a rare case there is dealers getting 3 or maybe even more , depending on past sales
achievements and awards .... and crap like that .... so...with me being a confirmed two.... i should be smiling come may
there is a slated run of 740 units for canada

btw ..the car at the show must have been 14th of the line but was marked 74th of 7400 .... ??

and from what the chryco rep told me , canadian msrp will be between 40-45 k ..

I was at my dealer 3 days ago, and talked to the manager about my car. I know I'm getting the first one coming to this dealership. I asked if I could order it in black. He told me he just left an area manager's meeting where he was told that there will be a run of 500 Challengers made for Canada. They will all be black. The SRT 8 badge will be replaced by a 500 badge on the grill. This dealer will be selling for the sticker price.Also he suggested that the engine for Canada will be stronger than the 425 horse 6.1, but did not say what it would be. Probably 6.6 !!Delivery will be in July. Anyone have anything more ??

BUT I think your dealer is blowing smoke.
the story all along has been orange and black, same SRT8 badging and same power.

I've worked in car sales before and this sounds like a common ploy here. My boss used to get a bunch of identical plain jane cars in then change the badging (add badging where there wasn't any) and tell everyone that it was a special edition and thats why its costs more. Sadly most people fell for that. Glady it was that kind of crap that made me get out of the business.
