Re: Canadian Info

Last I heard they were hoping to have all challengers built by mid to late july and that they were going to start make the Canadian 500 when they were 1/2 done. If thats correct then the canadian deliveries should be starting in 2-3 weeks???

As for the jeep value, I can only comment on the region I am in and the dealers here are notorious for adding HUGE markups to all the vehicles and absolutely ridiculous ones to every day vehicles. I sold cars back in the early early 90's and remember one of our guys selling one for 10Grand over msrp (no special vehicle, no limited anything, there were 5 more just like it parked beside it). He told the buyer that was msrp and since internet wasn't as acessible back then and the whole provinces car industry being crooked (subjective opinion) no one ever showed real msrp. In fact, most dealers made fake stickers for the cars and replaced the msrp prices with fictitious ones so buyers were always led to believe cars cost more than they really did.

Another rip-off was that the dealer would order a dozen identically optioned vehicles in various colors and send them straight off to a striping shop where they'd put some limited edition or something one them. The dealers would then tell customers that it was some limited edition thing that cost thousand and thousands more because of the special option grouping.... and they had the <wink> manufactures stickers and paperwork to show that msrp was higher <wink>.

In many regions in canada, at least in the past if not still, dealers can be very sneaky and borderline illegal and buyers don't know any better unless they do their research to check the manufactures website independant from the dealers website and of course by getting involved in great forums like this one.

So back to us getting our Challengers. 3H4Me, thats awesome, sounds like you are almost ready to be rolling away in yours!! WaHooo!! I am always assured I am number one and like you, supposed to be getting the only one that the dealership will get. Unlike you, I won't count my chickens until it shows up and they ask me to come pay for it.

Thanks M2B,
I'm the same though; a lot of certainty that I have an honest dealer , who can't sell it to me for less than MSRP, because of the line up to buy it. My only concern is when it comes time to pay for it. I certainly don't have all the cash to buy it outright, so I'll have to finance it. I just hope they don't screw me on that end. Shouldn't happen, but , you know, they could opt for someone who doesn't have to finance, with a big wallet full of money. I've been a good customer though , so that means something too.But your right, I'm pretty sure, but not one chicken counted. Thanks for the other info. also. Very interesting, and something for me to watch when they give me the "?MSRP?" figure !!
Thanks, and ALL the best with yours !!!!!

Re: Canadian Info

Yea, i would watch their so called "MSRP" i have actually seen that done before. Window sticker looks a slight bit different, and they added a bunch of fancy jargan to jack the price up. Its ridiculous and should be illegal in my opinion.

Re: Canadian Info

MSRP and Invoice Documents
the place I worked they had exact copies of the manufacturers templates so when a car came in they took that labels off, the invoices, everthing and then created them with the exact same options, features so that if you compared the original to the fake the ONLY difference was the price! The did it with their invoice book too. there were three invoice books that I knew of at the dealership. When they were selling to someone "at invoice" they would use one book. When the salesmen were getting their commision it was based on profit compared to book2 (which had lower costs on the invoice) and there was another book that the salesmanager kept locked up, we assume this book3 had even lower cost info because they weren't above ripping off the salesman along with the customers. I honestly believe that the salesmanager didn't have the real costs either and that the owers were ripping him off. It was a wonderful happy place! LOL

That's great advice from you guys, and I'll take it. I don't know though , how they can make a factory loking sticker (you know the big one in the window).
At least thanks to this forum, I have a good idea what the base price should be (or hopefully lower), and a good idea of what all the mark ups are. So I'll be looking at that hard !! On top of all that ; Canadian provinces and the feds, have come up with amazing taxes on all goods and services purchased in Canada. This varies by province. Here, in Nova Scotia, it totals 13%, so I can add that in too. Insurance is another thing to look out for, but I've convinced my broker that this is not my DD, so it's reasonable .
Can you imagine what a dark (no info. ) place it would be without this great forum.
Thanks guys !!

Re: Canadian Info

yea im glad we have the internet to get information from. Otherwise dealers would be selling these cars for whatever price they felt like. There are plenty of ways for them to fake a window sticker. Anyone that knows how to use a photoshop program could make one up with no prob. But you know what price to look for, so you should be ok.

This isn't as helpful for first run vehicles, but there are websites and companies out there that can give you the manufacturers invoice on any vehicle that you give them a vin# for. Or just pick the make, model, year and options and they can give you invoice and msrp.

moderators delete if naming another company is not appropriate here:
try carcostcanada. com for something like 50 bucks you get 3 or 4 invoices. its saved me a lot of money and almost got me kicked out of one dealership!! LOL

Thats not a bad idea at all. Kind of like car fax. It would be a wise idea to do that on any new car purchase. Just so you have ground to argue on.
