Re: Canadian Info

I remember now, yeah.

the profit of $16,000 was a per car separate from the lottery profits.
$16,000 (ADDITIONAL) profit on 500 cars is 8,000,000.

what makes this odd though is thats even higher than the price (per car) in Mexico.

AND... after googling for Ontario (province in canada, not county in california) based Dodge dealers last night I found a handful that have the challenger listed on their dealer site and are quoting msrp of 44,995 + delivery and some of them have a section where it talks about the extra $2,000 for being a "500" but not all of them.

Pricing still seems all over the map. (just like Ontario LOL)

M2B, Those are the prices that I've seen consistantly for quite a while now. Delivery being $1300. The only one that I've seen only once, was the "Gas Guzzler" tax, quoted at $3300. Do you know anything about that?

Re: Canadian Info

At this point I don't think I know anything.
I've seen prices with the '500' charge of $2000 included. Seen some places where the gas guzzler seems to be included and some where its not. the amount of the gas tax depends on the cars mileage, but that too seems all over the map.

most newspapers and some of the dealers are saying the same as you've indicated. But a very reliable wholesale site that provides actual dealer cost as well as msrp suggests that the "500" is extra as are all the options as is the gas tax and that it's $3000.

This ticket from the brampton plant is the icing on the cake. Would/Could/Dare they put a false inflated value on the car for an auction? If they said its worth $59,430 doesn't that suggest that this would actually be the price no matter what the newspapers have said previously?

Its also interesting that the Canadian Dodge site still doesn't put the challenger in their "vehicle lineup" for any year. Nor do they have prices or any mention of the "500". Very Very Odd. Its like they still can't make up their mind and they're floating out numbers all over the map to find out how much they can get away with. frustrating.

at mid40's I am all over this.
At mid to high 50's I probably have to pass.
I just wish I knew.

Yeah, I agree that they may be fishing to see what they can get away with. I'm on a company computer offshore right now, and couldn't open the Brampton ticket thing (Somethings it lets me open, other's no, so I miss a lot of things, mostly from other sites, and pictures) .
If I see it mid fifties, everything included (taxes too), I'll still probably be OK, but if it's heading as high as the Brampton thing suggests, I agree, I'll have to pass. I'd just be scraping by to get it anyway.

Re: Canadian Info

I hear ya! Its a lot of money, my name is ironic not factual!
As I see it, paying a few grand more than the Americans isn't fair, but whatever, we're used to it.

paying 10-15% (49K loaded) more is just WRONG. but its an awesome car and... maybe it won't be so bad.

but really 40 friggin % more!!! (59K + taxes) is just ridiculous. I can probably scrape it out but I am too cheap and the car isn't THAT nice.

Hopefully the brampton people who built the car and work for Chrysler don't know anything. Hopefully the ticket is a marketing tool to generate interest in an overpriced version of the car. hopefully.... crap, this trying to convince myself isn't working well. LOL

Time... it keeps coming back to time.
They said in Dec that we'd get pricing in Jan.
they said in Jan we'd get pricing in feb
they said in feb we'd get pricing in april.
and in march they got pissed off and said to quit asking!! really.
in may they leaked out three different prices but still haven't announced anything or updated their website.

if the rumours are true the "500"s will start showing up in a couple weeks. Will be hard to not get some type of price nailed down by then. A few more weeks. a month maybe. In 5-6weeks they'll be done making 08's so if they;re gonna make them we'll know by then for sure!

Well, maybe ,just maybe someone at Chrysler read one of my posts here and are "Re-Thinking" the Canadien Challenger SRT8 'extra labeling' designation : 500 which came from the Dodge Charger !!! To me, as I stated here [ somewhere ?] , seems a bit irrational : at the very least !!! Again , why pay homage to one icon by "name dropping" of another icon. That is mishmoxing [don't ask me where that name came from because I have no ] ,mislabeling ; I mean Dodge, please stay on track !!! If they want to honor the history of the Challenger, then think of SE, R/TSE , T/A and/or make in colors that the U.S. version isn't ! Perhaps, make the nameplate in the writing of the 1970 model :something to designate the Canadien model ! Likewise if they want to homage the Charger, then use the "500" ; even trump the U.S. version by making a Dodge Charger Coupe i.e. our " BurningMon's :

Re: Canadian Info

im not sure what the big discussion on pricing is for?? you know it will be within a thousand bucks of the current SRT8's. it is virtually the same car. the sticker price on my 300 was 54,460. and my roomates charger was in the area of 53,500 or so. i would bet my left testicle that the challenger will be in the 53,000-56,000 range for fully loaded.

are you located in canada? bc the US prices are way less than that.

yes i am. the prices have always been much higher in canada. and i highly doubt that DCX plans to start a revolution in the car pricing department. and start selling us vehicles at the same price as the U.S.

which is a real shame, since we build them here. and our dollar is on par.

the one thing i am wondering. is how hard it will be to import a new challenger up from the states?? because with the shortage of challengers coming to the canadian market. combined with raping of our anuses if we purchase here. it makes that a very worthwhile venture to checkout.
