Re: Canadian Info

that is crazy. I wonder why they charge you guys more for the same car, especially when our currency is basically 1:1. Doesnt make sense to me.

the one thing i am wondering. is how hard it will be to import a new challenger up from the states?? because with the shortage of challengers coming to the canadian market. combined with raping of our anuses if we purchase here. it makes that a very worthwhile venture to checkout.
Hey everyone....

i found a 2008 fully loaded silver SRT-8 on ebay....the buy now price is 54999 US.....not bad considering most dealers in the Vancouver metro area are asking 70-80000 CAD....the dealer selling this Challenger has it on the lot and is located about 3 hours from my home.....maybe.....just maybe

Re: Canadian Info

you should jump on that one. That sounds like a good price for canada. I think the average price i heard for the canadians was the mid 50's so that is about right.

contact the seller before you bid and ask if they will sell to a Canadian.
I've contacted 4 different ebay sellers and they all said that they aren't allowed to sell a car to a canadian (Chrysler's rules).

As for the other discussion about price. Google Dodge dealers in Ontario (where its illegal to sell a car for more than msrp) and you'll find some that already have 2008 Challengers on their list, along with prices that are in the mid 40's. This is consistent with an early "news release" and leaked document from Chrysler to dealers. But its not consistent with some other leaked rumours nor does it match the ticket information from a lottery that the plant is holding. things are still up in the air.

yes, it is total BS. its been this way for years. but they always blamed it on our low dollar.

now that the dollar is even, they try and blame it on shipping costs and what not. which still doesnt make sense, since the car is actually built in canada.

there is a company that has started a lawsuit against 6 major manufacturers. for artificially inflating the price of vehicles in canada.

i imagine supply and demand play a big role in all this too. we generally get way fewer vehicles up here than you do in the states. you can still find brand new 06 SRT's on lots down there. but they all sold here almost instantly. and with our economy being so hot right now, everyone wants a new vehicle. so they keep the price high, just because they can.

I heard a rumour somewhere that they've actually made 30-50 canadian cars already! I think they were the VIP cars for coprorate sponsors (breweries, distilleries, famous people, etc) and they won't be hitting the dealerships but who knows, there might be some canadian Challengers driving around next week!! that would be soooo cool.

In the mean time the crunch hit and I absolutely needed a second car so bought a new CTS yesterday. Gonna make things interesting when the Challenger arrives!! If its mid 50's it won't matter cause I won't be buying it, but if its really just 44995 + shipping, I might have to put an extension on my garage and I wasn't planning for that! Timing, not always what we want it to be.

Re: Canadian Info

Got a call today from a dealer in Ontario that I'd left my number with over the internet. I'd found the dealer as part of a google search for ontario dodge dealers that showed the challenger on their company page and had pricing information.

The pricing information on their company page was 44995 + shipping. Some had +2000 for the "500" series but I don't if this dealer was one of them. Why Ontario? Because last I heard it was illegal for them to sell cars for more than MSRP.

He called and said they had one available but it would take $10,000 deposit and that the price would be $65,000.

I told him that the price seemed high and he said that they are selling theirs for $10,000 over MSRP.

that tells me two things. 1) Some ontario dealers don't care about the law. 2) this dealer believes that msrp will be $55K.
