Challenger 6.1L/5.7L -vs- 300c and charger 6.1L/5.7L

What will be the differences between the Challengers 6.1L and 5.7L motors compared to the 300c/Charger's 6.1L and 5.7L motors?

I'm sure the Challengers ECU is going to be a little more picky with mods but I'm sure Diablosport or SCT will find a way to manage it.

The Challengers are coming with VVT, correct? Does VVT come with the Chargers and 300's?

Just trying to do some research. Sorry if the questions seem redundant.

I don't see a reason to think the Challenger ECU will be more difficult to mod than the 300C and Charger. The Challenger's 5.7L is supposed to have 380HP, and I guess the 5.7L in the 300C and Charger will stay at 350HP?

No, they will all go to 380hp, since thats the new and improved motor.

Do you know what they are doing to it to make the extra power over the others? Different cam profile, or just a more agreesive tune? Whats the scoop, anyone know?

Variable cam timing, Variable intake manifold runners..better MDS system etc. Remember guys, they said the HP/TQ #'s would be "similar" to the trucks 380/404. You can almost expect more....

Re: Challenger 6.1L/5.7L -vs- 300c and charger 6.1L/5.7L

Gotcha, thanks! So these motors are good enough for 7-8lbs of boost via turbo, correct? Thats at least what everyone says on the charger forums. Compression is 10.3:1 on the SRT-8 motors, right? Should we expect the same for the Challenger motors, or do you think dodge is going to go threw the trouble of changing the compression at all? Not thats its a problem as I could have my connections at Weisco make any piston at our turbo application compression, but are there pistons or rods available for the 5.7L/6.1L motors? I looked all over and could only find longblocks and stroker kits? I would just like to know about bottom end mods for these motors, thanks.

I would really like to know this too, and I've been asking around but haven't found any s/c kits for these motors. I know ford has em for their mustangs, but what about mopar?

Mopar doesnt make supercharger kits for them to my knowledge. There is a few guys on chargerforums.com running superchargers, both Roots and Centrifugal applications.

Re: Challenger 6.1L/5.7L -vs- 300c and charger 6.1L/5.7L

there is another thread (on page two of the threads) that contains the specs for the 2008. I don't know squat about superchargers (other than it would be awesome to add one!) but I recall that the compression is as you indicated.

if you can't find the link let me know and I can post the pdf file again here for you.
