Re: Challenger Competition- Good for Us
Competition is a good thing, as long as Chrysler is willing to compete. My concern is that when things get tough (the Camaro in a very high output form, or a high powered base Mustang GT is released), that Chrysler will decide that the relatively limited ponycar market isn't worth any farther investment. It didn't take anymore than a rumor that GM was cancelling the Camaro and Firebird in '74 to seal the fate of the original Mopar ponycars. I just hope history doesn't repeat itself.

Re: Challenger Competition- Good for Us
I doubt if you will ever see the 6.4 in a production vehicle. Crate only. Who knows how much longer the 6.1 will even be around. Expect more Hybreds, Diesels, and 6 turbo's.

Re: Challenger Competition- Good for Us
Nobody has confirmed a four cylinder for the Camaro, it's a rumor circulating right now.
A four cylinder would not be a good match for a car this big and this heavy and it's very out of character for a muscle car. It will work hard, boost hard, and use a lot of fuel to move a car like this around, harder tha a V8. The V6 will use nearly as much fuel as well. These aren't cars anyone buys for fuel sipping. I can tell you from the inside that the Camaro will be getting a 270-300hp V6, a 400-430hp V8 and a 500hp+ supercharged V8, you can bank on that. The Mustang is getting a refresh and will debut Ford's new V8 (called BOSS or Hurricane) with a big boost in power. It will also be carrying Ford's new turbocharged V6 as well as a new interior and styling updates. I'm with the person who thinks Chrysler should make an SRT10 Challenger. Absolutely they should, 600hp+ in the Challenger would be a hard trump card for Ford and GM to match. |
