Thumbs up Challenger Convertible

DETROIT — Convertible versions of the Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Camaro are expected to become reality in the 2010 model year, according to supplier sources familiar with the product cycle plans at the two Detroit automakers.

Re: Challenger Convertible

Based on their initial orders and general buzz over this vehicle, they'd really be silly NOT to make a convertible. Add to that the iconic nature of the original convertible version of the 70's car - it only makes sense.

Man, I don't really think of myself as a "convertible guy" ... but this car is going to look REALLY good as a convertible. Decisions. Decisions.

Oh, wait. I won't have nearly enough money to get one anyway. Guess that decision was easy. (*fingers crossed for generous raises in the next two years*)

Re: Challenger Convertible

A convertible 2010 hemi-orange SRT Challenger was pictured in the June 2008 issue of Car and Driver.

The caption under the photo says:

What it is: The recently introduced Challenger loses its top in 2009.

Why is it important: Gives people mourning the loss of the Prowler a nostalgic alternative.

Competition: Reborn Chevrolet Camaro, Plymouth Prowler, a 70s Challenger, a mullet.

Estimated arrival and cost: Arrives in the spring of 2009. Expect a $5,000 premium over the hardtop.

Re: Challenger Convertible

I saw the Car and Driver pic of the Challenger Convertible today... I'd like to see more. Anyone have a way to scan and post? Maybe I should do that myself? Anyway, the thing I noticed 1st and most y different about it was the front windshield pillars (A pillars?) and horizontal support were a brushed aluminum look. I'm not so sure I like that. I like the body color paint there myself. It looked a little cheap IMO. I guess it was another attempt at a design cue to recall memories of classic styling.
