Re: Challenger convertible

I'm a rag top guy. My first car was a 62 Impala conv, and now 30+ years later I have a 72 vette conv. If the top don't go down, I don't want it ( except a 69 Charger or Daytona ) I would think they would make a conv just like Ford did with the Mustang, and Challengers of the 70's. If they do, I'm in! Great site guys. Rob the GM man.

Thumbs up Re: Challenger convertible

I am restoring a 70 convertible Challenger and get excited just thinking of having the 08 convertible parked next to it in the garage!

Re: Challenger convertible

Your'e a lucky man. I can feel your excitment. I went to ebay to check out some old Challengers. Must say they do look nice. There's a guy in Stamford Ct that has a 71ish R/T conv sitting in his yard. I must say it is striking, it needs to be completetly restored. I talked to his wife, he's been trying to sell it for years, the reason it still sits there is because he wants 23,000.00 I think he is out of his mind, and with the new one coming, it's best to buy that then to start with 23k and then add at least that. The new one. Open your garage door, see the awesome sparkle and shine, open the tight smooth door, smell the new inside, sit on the new firm seats, crank up the new tight high horse power engine, maybe flip on the A/C hear the rumple, watch the neighbors stare, and let her rip down the road. AAHHHH! Oh yes, pull over and drop the top. Power of course.

Re: Challenger convertible

Thing of it is that most automakers subcontract convertible conversions out to specialty people. They make em in whichever factory they have and send em to california (usually). (I havent researched all the conversion specialists)
Then on to the dealer or back to the factory that is why there is such a big difference in the sticker on Convertibles. I have found the conversion kits used by toyoyo since i was thinkin on replacing the soft top on 95 celica gt convertible of mine since it is now 11 yrs old and found the complete conversion kit for the car. The whole kit was fairly cheap if i recall with all the parts ... Its the labor which nearly double s and then some the from the original kit price plus the extra shipping for the conversion. (Yes I know dont shoot me for the Toyota ) I thought i was done racing cars and looking for hot rods till now .. I found the gt to be a fun little cornering car and gets damn good gas mileage only had one thing go wrong the car in 10 years and the was the heater core . I drive on a lot of paved over logging roads and i can usually take the yellow sign caution turn sign and double it and then some sometimes and not miss a hair. But seeing this Challenger
come out again revitalized and all shiny and new is prolly the closest thing to a mid life crises I am gonna have lol the wife and the kids dont know it but i will sell them for the down payment and give Chrysler all the inlaws as the balance (Grins) and only have minor twinges of consious over the wife and kids... Okay major ... but still.....

Re: Challenger convertible

I was just about to make a new thread as my first ever post, until I saw this thread. I am not a 'vert guy, but how many 'vert Challengers do you think DCX could sell with a V6 and Auto. If reasonable priced I would think quite a few, but I don't know if the car has that cute factor women would look for.
