I am moving from New Jersey to Arizona in ~ 2 weeks! I am driving the black beauty out there with the girlfriend and was curious to know, what should i bring? OK, broad question, i have to bring clothes and what not but aside from the necessities. I have never done a car drive over 8 hours so this is a bit uncharted for me. We are not bringing a trailer of any kind.
I have jumper cables, snow brush and my car came with a spare tire.

This is kinda like the "Art Mann Presents!" show on AXS-TV. What should someone bring to this party?: A small cooler for the road, for waters, sodas, a couple of NJ beers to enjoy in the hotel room, sandwiches, snacks etc. This way you won't have to make another stop along the way just because you are thirsty or hungry. AAA trip tik map if you don't have NAV, and a AAA membership in case you need a tow or assistance along the way. Car chargers for your cell phones.

I am moving to sunny scottsdale. I went to Arizona State and now i am moving back! I went to AAA, have it all mapped out, also have a AAA membership. I had the oil changed a few hundred miles ago.
Should i get a valentine radar detector? I am not planning on speeding really, i'd like to get there in one piece but i would like to open it up a bit on some stretches.
Don't over think it too much. Basic stuff, tire gauge for if you get a light on the dash. Has it ever used oil? If not don't worry about carrying extra oil, they have that at any station. 32 psi in all driving tires. They will heat up on the road and gain a few psi. You have a spare. Make sure it has 60 pounds in it. Over heating shouldn't be an issue even in Arizona this time of year. Just make sure everything is up to snuff before you leave. Bottled water. Don't worry about food. You DON'T eat in your Challenger while you are driving! Stop and eat sensibly, then shake off road miles.
First evening stop in St Louis, Missouri? Book a room in Union Station downtown at the Hyatt, right off the Interstate. Nice accommodations and shopping the wife will enjoy. Congrats on the move!

Bring a camera and a laptop so you can post pics and write a daily log for all of us who want to feel a bit of the adventure that you will be.
I always thought getting a list from the show "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives" and visiting a few of them that interest you along the way would be fun.
Finally, not everyone is a fan, but you may want to consider a Colgan Bra to prevent rock chips and nasty insect build up on your car's front. Maybe not as big a deal as in Spring/Summer, but it may prevent some paint damage over 2500+ miles.
Oh yeah, have fun along the way where you can and make it an adventure.
