General Challenger DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the Dodge Challenger. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
The new car there for Dodge in 2015 is probably the new van, the 2016 one is probably the new Charger. Only shows a Challenger refresh for 2014... Looks like LA is only getting a new name because they replaced the tranny tunnel to fit the 8-speed - rather than call it an all new car. Whats your take?
According to Autoweek, one Dodge car will get a new platform in 2015. I bet I know what car that will be. For those on the fence, if you like the looks/size of the current car, you had better jump soon. I still bet the new Challenger will be plenty smaller and we know the looks just arent going to translate. Think about how GM mid sized cars got minaturized in the late 70s, they looked like 7/8ths scale cars of the originals

They've already said the new minivan is coming for 2015, its their bread winner. Chrysler shows a new one for 2015 and so does Dodge (new platform). One of the Challenger scenarios was that it was only getting a slight refresh and floorpan mods to fit the 8-speed, thats what it looks like here. I'd say they car might have a new interior and LED lights etc, but basically be the same as it is.
Rumors are some minor changes for 2014... assume rear and front end stuff maybe interior stuff... who knows.
2015 to smaller platform and car will be about Camaro sized.... that is the rumor from all we read.
I know, but it seems they changed it. You could pretty much tell they weren't set in stone as the rumor changed with the weather. Looks like the LA Challenger is being considered a refresh instead of all new but the smaller coupe isn't dead - its just been delayed until like 2017 or something crazy that isn't even worth worrying about. By then my priorities will have changed.
If this chart is even remotely true, I am reading that in 2013 Chrysler is dropping two FIAT produced cars (Either the Lancia Flavia, Thema, or Voyager). And Dodge is dropping two FIAT produced cars.......
The Challenger, Charger, and 300 will still be apart of their respected nameplates. Just the performance variant will be under SRT, hence, the three refresh symbols instead of a new car model in 2014.
Now in 2016, SRT will have a model, that is just like the Viper, specific to SRT (Maybe what ever is going to be derived from the LA platform).
Now Dodge is getting a new model in 2015 and a refresh of another model - and in 2016 they are getting another new model.
Once again, I am questioning the truth behind this chart.

An announcement came out the other week that Marchionne was re-adjusting the model / product plan from the original '09 5-year proposal.
Some of this is probably due to the changes in the marketplace since that time - for one, the large SUV that was planned - gone now.
The sales and future demand has declined significantly from the pre '08 levels. All models currently offered today sell in lower quantity that what the Caddy Escalade alone had been selling in years prior to the '08-'10 recession.
With the size Chrysler is, they can't afford to launch a model that flops - Honda, Nissan and Lincoln have done that in recent years and some of these got re-styles / refreshes in an attempt to improve sales and there hasn't been an appreciable improvement, yet a lot of costs for the tooling, dies, etc.

We know whats coming and when, we just don't know what the hell it will look like. Kinda pisses me off too... why not just show us, so we can decide what we want to buy?! I'm on the fence...want to see what this 2015 is gonna look like. If like dog doo doo, I'm juming on a 2014... Its not the 10-12K loss that bothers me, its my wife wanting to know why I am buying this and buying that. The 2015 Mustang is gonna be shown in a few months, why can't dodge do the same?
By the looks of that chart, there would be something new from SRT in 2016? Maybe the barracuda? Looks like refreshed cars up to then? Of course, that chart may be bogus. Challenger refresh for 2015 must be the new chassis. I figured if it was going on an entirely new chassis, that would be considered new, but must be a new "name" is what they consider a new vehicle. So, SRT gets something new in 2016... COOL. Refresh of the challenger 2 years in a row!
