Challenger HP vs displacement

Just curious which challenger motor is making the most efficient HP in relation to displacement in a stock motor.
I'm no expert but my rough calculations would be...

1. 3.6L
2. 6.4L
3. 3.5L
4. 6.1L
5. 5.7L

This is only HP in relation to displacement.
Not a knock of any engine or mine is better than yours thread.
Just curious if this is accurate for my own edification.
Any experts wanna chime in?

have no clue what each motor makes. can you post the numbers. I know the 392 is rated 470/470.

3.6L 220 cu with 305HP
6.4L 392 cu with 470HP
3.5L 214 cu with 250HP
6.1L 370 cu with 425hp
5.7L 345 cu with 370HP

thanks, so

3.6L 220 cu / 305HP = 1.38hp/ci
6.4L 392 cu / 470HP = 1.19hp/ci
3.5L 214 cu / 250HP = 1.16hp/ci
6.1L 370 cu / 425hp = 1.14hp/ci
5.7L 345 cu / 370HP = 1.07hp/ci

we have a winner.

So does this logic follow that break down?

There's more to be gained from bolt ons and tweaks with the 5.7 than any of the other engines.

Sent from my driver's seat as I pass you...

These numbers are going to be all over the place unless you hold the rpm constant for the hp spec (i.e., hp for each sample is taken at 5800 rpm, for example). Otherwise, you end up with a situation where high rpm engines are over-represented and lesser rpm engines are under-represented. It's not indicating "efficiency" alone, at all. Rather it is a product of efficiency and operational rpm.

It's not that I really needed 370 hp...but having 150+ hp riding shotgun at a moment's bidding w/o a 6000 rpm moonshot is what makes me feel like I'm in the right car for me. The roar of a v8 seals the deal!

The Google keyword is "ethanol-free gas". The truth is coming to light. Check out http://pure-gas.org/

To accurately measure power output, you would want to use torque, as HP is a function of torque and RPM. And all of these engines would theoretically have a different operating RPM range.

That said, there isn't much difference except that they are closer.

Liters CI TQ TQ/CI
3.6 220 268 1.218
6.4 392 470 1.199
3.5 214 250 1.168
6.1 370 420 1.135
5.7 345 390 1.130

And still, this uses peak torque. To accurately compare output per unit of displacement, you would probably want to measure the area under the torque curve for each engine.

The 5.7L is the lowest because it is underrated from the factory!
