Challenger price

Hey guys,
well im new here and i cant wait till the challenger comes out! I am looking to get an SE, and have a quick question. What would roughly be the monthly payments of the se? This will determine if i buy it or lease it. i would lease it if it was about 250 a month with a 3,000 or below down payment. any thoughts?

Re: Challenger price

It depends on your credit, how many miles you expect to drive, and other factors.

generally speaking financing for 60 months it is 200 / 10000 financed

so if you finance 20000 your payments will be 400/month

Re: Challenger price

In discussing the new camaro, Lutz said that it will be priced higher than the Mustang but "better equipped". This means that the Challenger's competition will be as follows:

V6 Mustang- $20,235
V6 Camaro- $20,235+
V6 Challenger- low $20s
V8 GT- $26,825
V8 Camaro- $26,825+

If Dodge wants to stay competitive with these cars, it should sell the Challengers for:
SE- $22,000
R/T- $28,000
SRT- $37,000

Re: Challenger price

The lease payment will be dictated by the residual value at the end of the lease.

Re: Challenger price

Damn, don't lease if you cant afford it save till you can ,but don't lease!
Your pissing away your $$$.
I almost leased my magnum and stopped cold when I had seen that the purchase price monthly was only 100.00 more than what they wanted for a very limited term lease.
Oh and wtf is it with them almost crashing deals with all that warranty crap if your car is as good as you say it is why do I need extra warranties.I almost walked out on the magnum sale because they ran me around on all types of buyer protection crap and at some point I yelled at the FI guy and told him"Stop the **** and just pass me the papers to sign or I'm walking A-hole.
He slid the papers across the desk with his hands shaking, lol.
Then they had the nerve to try and dick me out of the 4%financing term which I qualified for and they said I didn't I did walk then only to get a call the next day "we are so sorry that person made a mistake".
Sure he did !
I have a 700+ credit rating what where they thinking.

I bought from the other dealer down the street and stopped by to show the a-holes my new car I just bought 1000.00 less than what they had me at.
The smoke was just rising from thier collars!!!!!!!!!!LMFAO!

Shop ,shop ,shop.

Excellent points.
Buyers need to realize that the profit on the car is only a small part of their revenue generation. They get money back on most finance deals because the rate you sign for includes a % that goes back to the dealership! Same with extra warranty, undercoating and seat guard (often the minimum wage kid in the back with a couple of $10.00 spray cans) etc.

The games on trade-ins is even worse. They inflate the purchase price of the new car to allow for a higher trade in value to make you think you're car is worth more. In reality all that matters to them is the difference but to the customer they end up paying taxes on a higher value car. Buyers are better to trade their car in for $1.00 and have the dealer lower the price of the new car to accodate the "difference" and then you'd pay less taxes.

Leasing Vs Buying?
Well sometimes there are good reasons to lease. Not many, but some. People just need to realize that by leasing what they're really doing is providing a guarantee to the lease company that the car will be worth XX after a certain number of months so they then give you a loan to pay for the difference plus a few grand and will penalize the crap out of you if you drive too much or the value of the car isn't worth the agreed value (you don't know you're agreeing to the value by the way). If you buy the lease out at the end, the total cost will be more than if you just bought it outright. If you pass on the car you've made payments for 3-5 years and have no equity in anything, but thats not much different than if you buy it out cause its only worth what you buy it out for. The other thing is that (in canada anyway) taxes are payable on each lease payment rather than the whole car, so if taxes go up during the term of your lease your payments might go up.. not sure about this but I think thats how it works.

sorry for rambling... but so many dealers are crooks... even the ones that make you think they're being honest by showing you their costs. its usually BS.

Ive always been told to get the trade in value of your car,BEFORE you even hint as too what car you intend to buy. Up until now Ive never had a nice enough car to trade it LOL so i dont know...

Actually if anything the opposite is true. If the dealer knows you want 10K for a car thats worth 8K, they don't care what you decide to buy all they do is add 2K to the price of the new car.

A better approach is to make it really clear to the dealer that you're a cash buyer and deny any trade at all. Once you've got a done deal for a price and are writing up the papers, spring it on them that you want to know what your car is worth as a trade. If you've done a good job negotiating, the dealer will be ticked because they've left no wiggle room. You'll likely be disappointed in your trade value though because all they will give you is wholesale value.

So the car that you think is worth 10K thats really only going to be sellable for 8K, the dealer only wants to pay 6 or 7K to buy it so when they sell it they can make money.

best plan is always to sell your car privately. If thats not doable always make your trade a surprise but be prepared to get very little for it. Its better than getting little but thinking your getting a lot.
