Re: Challenger SE vs. Avenger R/T – Which One to Buy?

If a Challenger is what you want, it would be a mistake to settle for an Avenger, no matter how nice the Avenger is. I know from experience that it is easier to make payments on a car you want, instead of a car that you will buy if you can't get the one you want.

Frugal, huh? Guess that's easy to say when you aren't talking directly to the person you're talking about.

I don't think "frugal" is the word to describe someone who wants a nice-looking car that gets good gas mileage, works great as a daily driver, and doesn't want to break the bank.

I get everything I want within regards to OUR budget and we're both happy, and that's all that matters.

I guess your standards and our standards as far as ENGINES go, is well, different. Hubby doesn't need to compensate for ANYTHING.

I don't mean to get into a pissing match regarding V6 vs. V8 as that's been done before, but just because I am a woman, do not think I will not defend myself. Our financial situation is none of anyone's business and our choices reflect our personal tastes and bank account. We do what is financially sound for us, and that's THAT!

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with getting the V-6 Challenger even for a man. As a matter of fact in the real world all of that power is hardly necessary if even practical. Especially, if you want to keep your driver license and afford to put fuel in it! Really, it comes down more to personal preferance than anything else. Really, I just wish Chrysler would offer more choices to let us as a consumer pick the car best suited to our desires and needs. For example in the S/E a choice of V-6's, V-8 Option, Manual Transmission, Larger Selection of Wheels, etc. As my dream Challenger is different from the next persons and his from everyone else!

Note: You and your husband may want to consider what I've been thinking about. Just buy a used little economy car that's dependable yet cheap. Then buy a R/T as a toy to use on the weekend and special trips.......

Re: Challenger SE vs. Avenger R/T – Which One to Buy?

Is this car going to be an extra/fun car or will it be used all the time? If it's a fun car I think Scooter71 has the right idea. The mileage between the auto R/T and SE isn't that much difference and the 120HP upgrade will do alot for a car this heavy.
