A little more work to add a supercharger.
The wife or girlfriend becomes jealous because chicks dig shakers
If you are shorter than 5ft 3, it creates a blindspot in your right front fender
The hood looks better down when you are at a car show.
No engine cover to decorate for a car show
Extra work to remove prior to pulling the motor for a stroker setup
Extra work to remove prior to a cam install
Pros:
-Seeing the shaker move around when partaking in "spirited driving".
-Attention grabber.
-Chicks do, in fact, love shakers.
-nails the "retro" look.
Cons:
-costs more (worth it).
-gotta remove shaker for oil change (what are you, lazy? It's 4 bolts).
-can't show off engine cover (who needs a fancy cover, you've got a shaker!)
Absolutely love EVERYTHING about this car so it is one sided for me (list is SP ver). Also I know a lot of the items I love you can get but I love factory installed goodies.
CONS:
It is quite a bit more money (worth every penny to me)
No HP gain (although I still people it has more)
PROS:
BEE - Don't know why but I like it w/o the 6.4L on it
Challenger emblem - In script stands out and retro
Black cap/spoiler - depending on your color it really stands out from other Challengers
Shaker speedo - Minor but I love that it separates itself from after-market hoods
Shaker seats - Diddo
Of course the most important Pro, the Shaker sitting on top of that 392 with the 392 HEMI emblem on it.
Good luck and if you can swing it get it but be ready for LOTS of attention.
I think you summed it up pretty well B5!! And although I am, of course biased in my opinion, I think the Scat Pack Shaker looks the most bad-ass of all the Challengers. There's just something about that thing sticking up out of the hood...
You'll like it. I have an AFR shaker. May be selling it soon since I'm getting pretty serious on trading in. But you will definitely enjoy it, definitely brings a notch up on the attention grabber que
Was not at the dealer to get a shaker, drove a M6 and a A8 SRT. Saw a white shaker, FULLY LOADED that got my attention. Found out it was a left over 2015. It got my attention again and I cut a deal at 41k. According to True Car I got an "exceptional price". Got a great looking car with all the bells and whistles, got a great trade price for my 13' and its plenty fast for me and saved a lot of money on the deal. Car has everything. Gonna pick it up this week, dealer giving me window tint and rally RT side stripes . (Tint needed in West Texas). Saved so much I ordered a MOPAR Cat back exhaust system that the dealer is going to install. should be here any day. I am extatic and proud to be a shaker owner

I did the EXACT same thing. Went to dealer to get an R/T. A shaker was the furthest thing from my mind. But they had the '15 leftover RT Shaker in black and I fell in love with it immediately. There was no way I was leaving without that car. right around the same price you did. Could not be happier.
Love, love, love the shaker. The only downside is A) the cost, and B), this is only my personal paranoia speaking, is the amount of rain here in Fl. Not just the frequency, but the intensity. Non daily driver, no problem. A car that WILL be out in "frog strangling" conditions, maybe..
The "frog strangling" comment almost made me spit breakfast out. Lol. I too live in Florida.
The con list for me and what ultimately made me decide not to get it was it had to come with leather and it made the car all blacked out. Wasn't a fan.
The only con would be the additional cost to purchase so if you're good with that I'd go for it. Pretty bas ass in the looks department. I almost went that route myself. I priced out the SRT, the SP Shaker, and the SP and in the end I ordered my SP. All are exceptional choices.
Here's the stages of mine, having '71 style stripes installed and the majority of the Shaker stripes being removed, save for the center blackout around the shaker scoop 3rd image is final result:
Pro: I love when i get on it and hear the intake sucking the air with that subtle wine that almost sounds like a sc. (Not sure if non shaker SP's with CAI can hear it as well, never drove one).
Also, I cant comprehend how it doesn't add any additional power. Its essentially a CAI. How does this do nothing?
Wow, the side stripes in concert with the over-the-roof Shaker stripe look awesome!
Also, if you don't like the Shaker stripe, isn't there a delete option you can order to remove it? (Saves you about $500 bucks too, doesn't it?) If we're talking about a Scat Pack Shaker, you can order the Scat Pack Appearance Group to get rid of the Shaker stripe and replace it with the tail "bee" stripe instead.
As you can probably guess from my old T/A, I'm a big fan of shakers in general.
the only 'drawback' for some of us, is that you lose the all-leather shaker seats and get substituted with the Alcantara "suede" with minimal leather border trim.
-you get the SP bee animation in the cluster and the embroidered SP bees, but I'll keep the leather seats...
Yep the 2nd gen TA had the longest production run of shakers from '70 up through '79...it was a sad day when the 301ci replaced the 400.
my brother and a best friend had '78 TA 4-speeds (the real Poncho V8)- when I lived in CA you only could get the TA w/ auto (403 Olds, 180hp).
-there was a black market for 4speed Camaros, Firebirds and 'Vettes where they could come into CA as 'used' cars once they had 4k on them...
Fun cars to drive, and the Challenger reminds me of those, but with even more refinements over 30+ years. Those TAs weighed nearly 4K even back then, once you had A/C, t-tops and all the other options.
Oh, so the regular full-leather seating isn't even an option on a Scat Pack once you go SPAG. That didn't occur to me.
Dodge website lists Shaker stripe delete as a -$500 delete option, but I doubt many (or any) cars would be inventoried that way. It's like the hood scoop delete option they had on the 2005 GTO. Only 24 units (0.22%) were produced with that option and I'd bet that all were customer orders.
Yeah, the Pontiac W72 400 is where it's at. I've got one of the last of them in my '79 4-speed. I'm hoping to get a Challenger SP Shaker to complement it because I agree the Challenger feels like a more refined version of same!
Scat Pack (coupe)
-base is cloth (and SP App Grp can be ordered to have cloth + SP bee logo)
-opt is Alcatara w/ leather trim (Non SP has "R/T" logo)
-opt w/ SPAG + Leather Int Grp = Alcantara w/ leather trim + SP bee logo
-std is all-black color Alcantara / leather, opt is Ruby Red/ Black
Scat Pack Shaker:
-std is all Nappa leather seat
-SPAG option replaces all-leather seat w/ Alcantara w/ leather trim + SP bee logo
-std is all black in both seat choices or Ruby Red / Black (limited to certain paint options)
At first I wasn't a big fan of the SPS stripes.
I thought I would take the $500 and do the delete, if I was to order one.
But now, I kinda like them. I would probably do the delete on a black car, but otherwise I would keep them.
I don't think I would do the SPAG on a SPS either. I wouldn't want to give up the leather to get the exact same interior available on a SP, and have to pay EXTRA for it to boot!
