Ther must be a benefit or the company would not have spent the $$ to have them . Also any Challenger hood will accept the SRT scoops , just pop out the blocked ones on the RT / SE and pop in the new SRT flowing ones .

You don't think that it might be more marketing than actual performance gains?

From the pictures it doesn't look like the scoops route air to the airbox or intake. I think air just blows across the top of the engine. Not a bad thing, but I don't see any performance increase other than a decrease in under hood temps.

Is B5 blue the only color they are producing the classic in or is it just for the 09's? I like the blue but other choices would be nice as well.

Re: Classic Edition R/T

I agree that the "functional" hood scoops have marginal value. It just looks good to say that Dodge's top of the line SRT performance car has functional hood scoops.

Back in the 60s and 70s, they wouldn't dare have claimed that those scoops were functional. Every manufacturer had a true ram-air set-up on their carburerated performance cars. (Dodge had a shaker hood option and a fiberglass T/A hood on its Challengers).

Correct, the classic r/t will ONLY be available in B5 Blue. However, I'm willing to bet that the Classic R/T and Spring Special SRT8 will make an appearance every year (just like the Daytona and Super Bee trims for the Charger) with different colors. So, for '10 I wouldn't be surprised to see these same packages return with a different heritage color.

Re: Classic Edition R/T

Yep and that. Although I thought I read some months back that the convertible will be an R/T only thing, or at least SE and R/T only thing. Though I can only assume the rumors were like that because they were operating on the thought that the SRT8 is niche market enough as is, that making it a convertible wouldn't be worth it. With the turn-out of the '08 and '09 SRT8 orders I don't see why they wouldn't change that line of thinking and make the convertible an SRT8 trim too.
