Question Collectible Car?

Do you guys think the new Challenger will be a collectible car after 20 years?

The guys on chargerforums.com do not think that their SRTs will be collectibles due to the number made each year (about 4-6,000), gas prices, etc. The only ones that have a chance, according to them, are the Daytona and Super Bee (limited production models).

Their advice is to drive your car hard and enjoy it. I agree!

Re: Collectible Car?

I think they will be for the same reasons the first generations are collectibles now. Of course the gas prices are going to play a factor. That is part of the reason the old ones are so valuable now. People will get rid of them, or rn their souls out, leaving less of them in the future. just my 2 cents. But I will runn the you know what out of mine when I get it.

The "baby boomers" with money have created the market for muscle cars from the 60s and early 70s. Basically, they are buying cars now that they couldn't afford when they were young.

I don't know if the same thing will happen with Dodge's R/T and SRT models.

The only thing that might help to make them collectibles are gas prices. I think that the current horsepower race between Dodge, Ford, Chevy, and Pontiac is a temporary thing to prop up sales/profits. The future, unfortunately, is hybrids, electric cars, etc.

Unforunately you are correct. Maybe ethanol can allow us to enjoy the brute force of a V8 a few more years, and at a reasonable price.
