If you work with the owner of the dealership, you should be able to get what ever they have access to...ie; my local dodge dealer is 5 star but not an SRT autherized dealer, hence i cant order srt products from them. I was able to buy the limited ed, daytona products, both charger and ram.We have bought many cars from them so they are very happy to help. When the owner told me he was keeping the first challenger that came in i was bummed out,[he said price would be 45-50k] but he did offer to call me in ,and let me take her out for a test drive, cool enough for me[for now]till i can get my hands on one,and the price comes down.....peace from maine.

Re: cost of a new challenger?

The first run of challengers will all be SRT8's and only one per dealer.
Dealers will be getting well over sticker price.
You can start ordering for the fall production in the spring with more pkgs and options available. You will be able to get a reasonable price on the second batch

Re: cost of a new challenger?

How many of you guys are planning to order your Challenger instead of buying one off a dealer lot?

Normally, you can get a better price when you buy one from a dealer's inventory. However, if the dealer-ordered Challengers come in loaded with all the options (e.g., GPS, kicker stereo, sunroof, etc.), it can add about $5K to the MSRP.

I am planning to see how quickly the 2009 Challengers move off the dealer lots. If I find one that I like, I plan to travel out-of-state, if necessary, to buy it. Otherwise, I will order an SRT with minimal "frills."

I'll probably order what I want. My long time dealer told me it would be best to wait until the 2nd run of cars, because more options will be there, little or no price gouge, plus maybe the 6.4.

Looks like I'm going to order a 2009 model.

A guy at my local Dodge dealer called this past Saturday. We started talking about the Challenger and here's what this guy said.

First off this dealer is a high volume seller. This guy said that they were getting five 2008 Challengers and the first one is going to the owner. The other four are pre sold at "market prices," whatever that means. I guess he could of said we're gonna stick-it-to our customers and I would have been satisfied with that answer. I told him I thought it was wrong to do that, and he came back with this poor salesman story and how he needs to make some cash. I told him if he didn't like the money selling cars then he should find something else to do.

So there you go. Another dealer rumor story.

Re: cost of a new challenger?

I plan to pre-order depending on the available options. I don't need to go searching different dealers to find exactly what's on their lots. We'll see how it goes this coming April.

Re: cost of a new challenger?

Its supply and demand. Im not going to take it in the shorts, but plenty of people will pay for that opportunity, so why give the salesman a hard time if he can get it?

Re: cost of a new challenger?

I was happy as a clam to find a dealer that stuck to msrp when the goats first came out. They are out there. Now I can sit back and wait for the 6.4 chally.

King- I really didn't give him a hard time. But when he went on and on how he was trying to make extra money on this car, and started talking about how he hoped the pent-up demand would continue into the 2009 model, I just couldn't resist. He asked for it and I gave it to him....simple as that.

If he would of said that he understands my concerns but he doesn't make those decisions, I could accept that, no problem. A professional salesman would have conveyed that.

It's looking more like it's going to be a 2009 model for me. Some on this board will get a 2008, but probably not many. Oh well.

Re: cost of a new challenger?

I hear what your saying Chuck. Im more interested in the 09's anyway, more options and maybe a 6.4. I mean how pissed would ya be if yo bought an 08 6.1 auto, then the next year they had the 6.4 manual!
