Re: cost of a new challenger?

Its going to be the same as when the 300c SRT8 came out the first cars were selling for 10k over sticker and now they cant give them away i can get a 8 month old SRT8 300c which stickered new for 47,500 with 5k miles on it for 33,000 so i will wait till the feeding frenzy is over and go buy a Used Challenger for a big discount and get the 6.4 :-)

Re: cost of a new challenger?

I am planning on buying an SRT Challenger in 2009, as are a lot of us.

However, I was wondering if anyone else who is planning on buying an SRT could be swayed into buying an R/T? These would be some of the reasons:

*The horsepower of the 5.7 may be increased to 380 hp.
*The 5.7 with MDS does not have the $2,100 gas guzzler tax.
*The R/Ts MSRP is about $7,000- $8,000 less.
*The R/T is a more practical every day car and gets better gas mileage (13/18 vs. 15/23 mpg).
*The R/T has a lifetime warranty.
*Possibly less insurance.
*Less costly maintenance.

*Also, the R/T Charger currently has a $3,000 factory rebate (we will probably not see this on the Challenger, however).

The rumor is that 2009 SRT's will have MDS...Hopefully no guzzler tax

Those are good reasons, but I can't be swayed. Just better not let my wife see your post!

I got my 2K6 Charger in November of 2K6 after the 2K7's were already on the lot. I intend to do the same. If the housing market is still bad and American automakers are still hurting, there should be good deals. It all depends on how many are made next year.

Chrysler is on life support, not to mention GM and Ford. They need to do some remarkable things to come back from the brink, so if they are smart the Challenger will be reasonably priced.

Either way, it will be available after the first mad rush, just like the Nintendo Wii.. lol

I agree that we will all get a better deal by waiting for the 2009s. However, don't expect to snap up a leftover 2008. They are only building 5,000 Challengers and, unlike the Chargers, they will all be quickly sold. (Many dealers already have long waiting lists and will only be receiving 1-2 cars).
