Wink Costco Purchase Strategy?

If you have an Executive Costco membership card (cost $100 for 1 yr.) you can buy most cars at invoice from participating dealers. Cars in demand are call "premium" cars and are sold for invoice plus $500+.

I am going to try this with the Challenger and see what kind of a deal I can get. Has anyone tried this with another car purchase?

(Also, with the card, you get lower financing rates from Capital One).

Re: Costco Purchase Strategy?

It all depends on what kind of deal Costco inks w/its dealers. Don't underestimate the leverage they have. Would you willingly lose a contract w/Costco that could be worth dozens of Nitros or Caravans just for the opportunity to gouge on a handful of Challengers? Hmm. Touch choice.

That said, if the contracts don't have teeth or have specific loopholes then this strategy is probably a nonstarter. I would absolutely expect for this strategy to fail the first year... but I'd still try it just to make sure.

After all if everyone thinks its going to fail but it doesn't, you may be first in line.

I've never heard of this;sounds interesting. Is there any fine print to read or be aware of i.e. some models are excluded from a Costco purchase ?

I don't think any cars are excluded. Here is their brochure (see page 6):

Yep, just as I surmised," All new cars arranged for sale are subject to availability and a price prearranged with the selling francised new car dealer .Certain vehicles may be excluded." ..... Hot vehicles like the Dodge Challenger {most likely} won't be had with a Costco card !
