Great question! Well, my 300C is rear-drive and I drive it through the winter... although the intrusive stability control really ruins my fun when I want to do some drifting.

My experience - having owned numerous rear-drive cars - is that coupes tend to be a real handful, since they have no weight over the rear wheels. Sedans carry much more mass toward the back end, so they dig in a little better. And nothing could stop the Ford Country Squire Wagon I had during college! My '78 Cordoba, on the other hand, was an absolute terror - it ALWAYS wanted to go straight.

Okay, didn't mean to digress from the topic at hand, but did want to provide clarity on my slightly confusing statement earlier.

Re: A 'Cuda in your Garage?

I agree a new Cuda would be awesome. I just wonder how much steam such a car would take out of the Challenger's sales volumes if they were both on the market at the same time? I think for the Cuda to be feasible (and make sense), it would have to be a more upscale version of the Challenger. Think of it in the same relationship terms as the 300C and the Charger. And really, in a way, this could be a way for DCX to have its cake and eat it too. They could produce the Cuda for the gearheads who want the power as well as the supernice interior and all the bells and whistles.........and then produce the Challenger as a sort of "poor man's Cuda", with less interior extravagance and such.

Heck, if there had been better planning, the Cuda could have gotten the more refined IRS setup while the Challenger got the more drag-race-friendly live axle setup. It could have worked. I think it would be awesome if they actually approached it this way and got both of these cars to market. But unfortunately, I think the project is too far down the pipeline.......and I have to say that, at this point, a Chrysler 'Cuda (that sounds weird to say) doesn't seem very likely.

Well, aren't 2 heads better than 1 ? If both were offered, that not only puts more $$ in DCX/Chrysler's pockets ; as well as sells another vehicle away from any of the competiton ! !! P.S. ..you seem to have already written the possibility off....think PLYMOUTH ! !!!!!!!!!!

Not disagreeing at all. I'm just fairly skeptical that the Cuda will be resurrected anytime soon. If it is.........heck, I'm all for it!

I just think there has to be some difference in the direction/focus of the two cars so that they stand apart from one another in some way. Otherwise the Cuda and the Challenger end up being the exact same car with just cosmetic differences. And that would be a shame.

They were the same exact car back then, with only minor cosmetic differences. Id sell/upgrade to a 'Cuda for sure if given the chance. The Challenger is probably my second favorite muscle car from the era, the 71 'Cuda is by far my favorite!

Thumbs up Re: A 'Cuda in your Garage?

Thought you guys would find this quote from chryslercuda.com interesting:

"The recent announcement of Daimler Chrysler's upcoming release of the 2008 Dodge Challenger has gotten many Mopar enthusiasts asking "what about the Cuda?" Recent inquiries to the Daimler Chrysler's marketing department has revealed a possible release of a sibling car to the new Challenger. According to Chrysler, this new Cuda, which is referred to at the Chrysler Cuda Concept at the time, would likely be a return to old, with the Cuda being built on the same LY platform as the Dodge Challenger, and it would likely have the same engine offerings, among which is the current 425 horsepower Hemi. While this is only a rumor right now, it has been acknowledged by DCX marketing representatives that this car may actually exist, and the existence of this car as a concept has not been denied.

So, with that, we are lead to ask "what about the Cuda?"
It is no secret that Dodge stole the show at the 2006 North American International Auto Show with the gorgeous Dodge Challenger Concept, and one would think that the release of an awesome sister car, perhaps packed with Dodge's 6.4L, 500+ horsepower crate motor (since the Cuda was the higher performance of the two) would have the same effect at the 2007 NAIAS.

So, should this actually happen, and we do see a return of the Cuda, and the question "what about the Cuda" comes up, my answer will be simple… Ill take mine, in Plum Crazy, thank you."

See: http://www.chryslercuda.com/ for great concept pictures.

Re: A 'Cuda in your Garage?

Repeat thrice !!!!!! This is all 'old' news. Those 'Cuda Concepts' are from our member Burningman .They've been posted here too: months ago ! I was the first one to inquire about this to www.askdrz.com and was posted on the ask Dr. Z thread here at Challengertalk;;; refer to that thread which is located in the Archive section : due to the "clogging" threads on the main 'Active Topics' page ! P.S. This was also brought up by yourself / Cuda340 : refer to thread/post http://www.challengertalk.com/forums...5115#post15115
