Cut outs

Has anyone looked into getting cut outs for the exhaust and keeping the stock exhaust for normal driving and then opening up the cut outs to blow the doors off of anyone who gives you a funny look or ricers lol.

Re: Cut outs

There are a couple of guys using the electric cutouts on Chargers on the chargerforum.

Looks like an easy mod!

Re: Cut outs

I say leave it to the Camaros headed for the trailerpark and get a nice aftermarket exhaust that sounds good all the time.

Re: Cut outs

I know awhile ago the gaskets on the cutouts were leaking pretty quickly after installation, not sure if this is still the case.

Id like some cut outs eventually if those gasket problems have been corrected..

Re: Cut outs

We sell the DMH electric cutouts. A piece of advice for anyone wanting a pair. PLease use high temp RTV to seal in addition to the supplied gaskets.

They fit perfectly and sound awesome.

$349.99 for the pair.

Re: Cut outs

I'll pass on the cutouts.

My Hemi-orange SRT will be getting a lot of attention from the LEOs. I don't want any more!

Re: Cut outs

I installed a pair 2 years ago. They are great for effect. Installed directly behind the CATs. Be very careful to know how strong the spring closer that holds it closed is rated at. It varies by the maker. I went for some "less expensive" ones and the motor will blow a small amount past them when closed and it gets annoying because it sounds like what it is...an exhaust leak. . Just buy the heavy duty version if you do it. BTW, I hopped a parking curb in the rain a few months back and crunched the right side one. Too hard to straighten, so I just capped it. Now I am just running 1 and it sounds equally bad ass. You can get the same effect with 1 side and save a lot of cash.

Forget all the knuckleheads who tell you about "Back pressure" being required or the computer hiccups. That is patently untrue if you install it behind the CATs. I know because we went through all that discussion on the Charger Forums two years ago and I can tell you there are a lot of people with opinions, but few who actually do the mod and test it. It has no positive effect or negative effect on performance in 2 years of daily driving and at the strip. Overall they are cool, but even the switch placement will cause you to make a "hole' somewhere. Hard core "modders" of the LX platform are everywhere. Best to ask them if you are unsure.
