Angry DCX drops the ball, AGAIN!

By now I'm sure some of you have seen the release photos of the new Camaro conv. which will be unveiled to the press today in Detroit and to the public on Mon. Now here is a 2010 car, a conv.no less, and the General is showing us 3 years in advance what it will look like. The new Challenger coupe is a 2008 model and DCX won't even tell us for sure what engine, trans.,or colors we might look forward to. Now, supposedly, there will be a 2009 conv. Challenger. When were they planning on showing it to us? Maybe a year after we see the 2010 Camaro conv. Unless we see either a production 2008 Challenger in Detroit on Mon. or a 2009 Challenger conv. concept, THIS AUTOSHOW SEASON IS GOING TO SUCK!!!!! Sorry, I'm venting. I'm tired of looking at 7 month old news! Any comments?

Re: DCX drops the ball, AGAIN!

I tend to agree. I was hoping to see the concept at the AZ Barrett Jackson auction end of this month but since Ford is this years sponsor I don't think it's likely. In general I think DCX is losing momentum with this car in terms of keeping it in the public eye. I'm sure when it finally hits the lots it will be awesome but it's hard to stay interested given the lack of any meaningful news and the concerns about price ranges for this beast - which may be one reason they are staying quiet. If this pricing is way out of line wiht the competition they may lose a lot of sales... ?

Re: DCX drops the ball, AGAIN!

Well, let's see here ! I'll try to combine my comments to the two posts above and mix in a little more !! ! First off, I think we/I are suffering from being Americans and in this era we're in....so used to getting something real quick plus being tied to Mopar production ; meaning they'er quicker at getting concepts to market faster than anyone else : so we become automatically induced into premature "wharfing " !! Personally, I'm not too worried about this Camaro Convertible, not real impressed with the looks [besides their near copy of the Challenger's color ,and even if I had the $$$ wouldn't even think of buying the Camaro convertible or the coupe. I really wouldn't even want a ride in the back seat either since it appears to be below 'grade' !! I'd have to be about 6'4" to see out and then when sudden braking occurs my head would snap..end of story !!! I would way rather have this Sweet Thing >>

This also makes me wonder! One to One and a half years until production and nothing new??

Re: DCX drops the ball, AGAIN!

What could there be new? It's only been 5 months--Yes ,5 months since DCX official announcement. Remember at least with DCX it takes about 3 years from concept to production models to "Hit It " !!! I really don't think most of us /people really realize all that is involved. I mean we've been through all this months ago on this forum...just go through the wonderful archives of Challengertalk.com ! Also, keep in mind that the competition is or could be listening....'Loose Lips sink Ships' !!!!!! ..You know..some that are antsy to get a Challenger are going to be the first ones complaining of problems ,bugs or worse lemons !!!!!! You know actually those ones better hope DCX doesn't change their minds or maybe those have not heard about the dismal sales reports from 2006 ?

Re: DCX drops the ball, AGAIN!

I would think that DCX could at least give us some teasers along the way. Chevy does with the Camaro. DCX is going to lose a lot of customers if they don't keep interest peaked in the Challenger. I really want one to go along with my Charger, but that doesn't mean that something else won't tempt me between now and then. C'mon DCX, you're good at marketing. Figure out a way to keep us on the hook.

Re: DCX drops the ball, AGAIN!

DCX is going to lose sales to the camero b/c they aren't releasing as much information? Ok, I might agree with you if the camero was already on sale or would be before the challenger, but it isn't. If anything chevy is trying to keep up with the challenger b/c it will be out 6month prior. I think these guys know what they're doing. Just be patient.

Well, heck, I thought they have been with the SEMA Show Stopper ; the All New & American :2006 Dodge Challenger S/S with a 392 Hemi racing engine all decked out in red, white and blue. Plus different Media had write ups as well as neat little videos of both Challenger's lus our own Challengertalk.comers have given us great photos ! DCX has already told us that the production models will be nearly identical to the Concept, a few engine choices, maybe only the 6.1L Hemi for the 1st run ones...I think same color too. Now if DCX is listening to us and everyone else screaming their requests i.e. colors,,engine choices weight issues ...maybe that could be a reason why we haven't heard any news that some are wanting.... I mean what if DCX made an official announcement , " That we are currently waiting for a year or so until we here what all Challenger buyers want; before we announce the colors, the engines, the this & that : because if we don't; we'll hear ~#&^(??" Oh good grief !!!

Re: DCX drops the ball, AGAIN!

We dont have much patience anymore, fast food, fast internet, on demand this and that, fast oil changes, hurry up and make our kids grown ups dont let them be kids ( from what I see in the school systems nowadays glad i grew up in the 60s and 70s, they didnt dump college size loads of homework on us, not that i did any anyway lol). All long term things are inconvienent nowadays, because we want what we want when we want it, a lot of things cater to our 3 year old mentality nowadays. Just food for thought.......
