Smile do they live in a cave...

...I am surprised how few people I talk to actually know about the new Challenger.....many are confused, thinking I have a new Charger on order while others are too young to remember the original Challenger....the dealer I ordered mine from says I am the ONLY customer they have had who actually ordered a new Challenger, no one else stepped up with a downpayment for one yet....he said a few people have asked about it, but no one else has pulled the trigger yet....the very first Chrysler Plant was in our town and it has always been a MOPAR area, but things change....in the last few weeks, we have lost our Ford dealership and our GM Dealer is on his way out too...tough times for small town dealers with $4 gas and a lot full of trucks and SUVs

...the bright side, I guess I won't see another Challenger at every stoplight around here for quite a while, lol

For a year now, I've had my order in for one, and you'd be surprised at the amount of people; who, when I tell them I'm getting one respond with " Yeah, nice looking car, I saw one yesterday".(Even as long as a year ago, they'd seen one) Obviously they'd seen a Charger, and don't know the difference. This is the vast majority of people. For those who do know the car however, there's a real enthusiasm for it.
The only reason they will be rare in my turf is that there are very limited numbers coming this way. I've been told that in my area (Halifax, N.S.) it's one per dealership for the 08's. I have no idea about 09's. We're having real difficulty getting info. here in Canada. You're right about "most" of the younger people, they don't remember the original Challenger, and for the most part are ricer bound. I will guarantee you though, that while the ricers drive by barely noticed, "OUR" car will be turning their heads every time.

Re: do they live in a cave...

You know what I'm seeing? Mustangs. Mustangs. Mustangs. All over the place. Then on my way to work there is a Ford Dealership and all I see is a row of Mustangs out front! Just can't wait for the Challenger to arrive on the scene. The sooner the better!!

While I'm on it...I'm seeing an awful lot of new orange cars too! Not as nice as the Hemi O color though!

And yeah - lots of the younger generation knows NOTHING about this car. My 19 year old nephew didn't have a clue. Don't most guys know their cars? I know all the makes and models....!

Yeah, me too ;although I do see quite a lot of Dodge Chargers all over here too !! At times at think that's good that a lot/or the youngin's don't know of this . You though seem to be unique; as you know more about the Challenger ,Mopars than a lot of guys !!!

Re: do they live in a cave...

Ragamuffin, I'll take that as a compliment. Seriously though, when you're in your 40's, many of us know our cars because back in the late 60's/70's/early 80's cars stood out. They were distinct. When you're a big part of the MOPAR Musclecar era, it stays in your blood and you develop an eye for cars in general. Kids back then would hang around outside all day and check out the cars on the road, not stay cooped up on their computers and xboxs all day (although I do play a mean Guitar Hero III..I'm almost finished at the expert level!!) I also worked in the car business, so I hold enough of my own. I'm really close to my Dad who when I was younger rebuilt a 1939 Packard convertible. It's his pride and joy. I of course head right over to the cudas and challengers and drool everytime I go to see him at a car show and see the muscle cars! Can't say I know to much about the japanese and european models, but old AMERICAN is where its at for me. I'm just a regular Mom who MUST get this car!! I'm a pretty low key woman in general, it's going to be hard to lay low in a hemi orange Challenger though!

I sold my wife's Dodge Truck a few months ago (lucky me, gas was still about $2.50/gal then). I then gave her my Charger in anticipation of my getting the Challenger!! Maybe that's what's happening everywhere!?!?! lol
I do know she loves the Charger and wanted it day 1.

Re: do they live in a cave...

The more I hear about how little people know, the more I get kinda nervous about leaving this car in parking lots. I'm reasonably convinced I'll be mobbed when I fuel up and not be able to make a quick stop anywhere for at least the first month, if not longer. Oh well I guess it comes with the territory!
