General Challenger DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the Dodge Challenger. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
I removed the fog lights off of a 2010 Dodge Challenger and put them on my 2011 Dodge Challenger. I know my car has the wiring already there and I know to get them activated, the dealership has to reprogram my computer and all that. My question is has anyone ran there own wiring for the foglights themselves. I basically just want them to come on when I turn on my headlights. I'm afraid of drawing power off the headlight wires and splicing the foglights into the same line. So I'm looking for some other suggestions that some other challenger owners have done.
I would think a basic fog lamp kit (without using the lights since you have them) would work. You basically want a relay to activate when your headlamps come on and then the fog lights would be wired direct to 12V for power supply. You would not want to splice into the headlamps directly since it may draw too many amps on that circuit and you don't want them on all the time...
I have a friend that works at a Dodge dealer and I had mine turned on by him. No charge. But I decided to change and I put amber LEDs in my fog lights an re routed the hot wire to a ignition on so my fogs are now my DRLs.
So did you turn off your DRLS since your fogs are your DLRS? I like it better with the fogs being the DRLS ,was it hard to do? Could you tell me how to do it or draw out a picture of the wiring? Can i get the dealer to turn off my DLRS if i do this? Wouldn't want them on anymore. Thanks, looks a whole lot better.I also want to do the mod that someone did where they changed the rear taillights to 4 bulbs on each side of the reverse light instead of 2 bulbs for turn signals and brake lights .
Don't have a guess at the DRL's, but the Web Electronics sequential tail light kit fires all 8 on brake and sequences the 4 on each side for signals.
If you wanted, you could probably eliminate the sequencing.
On the kit, I've disconnected the phone cord that ties the 2 sides together, so now I have 1 sequence when I hit the brakes as well. It's pretty bright.
The mod was pretty cheap. About $160 and takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to do yourself. Not a hard mod to do. You'd pretty much have to do the same thing if you had to change out any of your rear lights anyway.
Yeah, you would need to get the DRLs turned off at the dealer. I never had my DRLs turned on.
I ran the positive wire on the passenger side fog light because the one form the drivers side goes to the passenger side too, to the fuse box under the hood to a fuse that is only powered when the car is running. Don't have a diagram but I can show you where I connected it.
You can piggy back the wires from the outer lights to run over to the inner bar and it would be really easy if you didn't want to get the Webelectrics kit. The dual filament bulbs are already in the center bar. I do have the Webelectrics kit in mine, here it is. I have LEDS in mine

I have a 2010 r/t and thought someone said the bulbs were single filament and you had to change the sockets, thats great if they are already dual, wonder why they didn't hook them up from the factory? Thanks

They are dual. The WB kit is a wiring harness that has both leads for the double filmet bulbs.
Dodge must getting a better deal just buying one type of bulb and just put them in. No mix up either.
The WB Sequentials sure do suck a ton of power though, I left that phone cord off too, but in some states it is illegal..in most actually lol. I think it is interesting that I can notice an exhaust note change\rpm change when idleing and using turn signals with the sequential, just because they suck so much power.

I want to do the piggy back ,just one more question are the inner bar light sockets wired for dual filaments,or will i need to get new sockets. Just wanted all my lights across the back to work,Also can you show me where you connected your fog light wire to the fuse box? Thanks for all your help
