Dodge Charger Police Cars

I wonder if the high price of fuel could increase the sales of Dodge Charger Police Cars? As the V-6 Charger is as fast as a V-8 power Ford Crown Victoria and gets much better mileage!

Re: Dodge Charger Police Cars

Maybe. Some departments still shun the Charger because of the poor visibility and lack of trunk space. The county here just bought about 30 of them, but the city still uses Wimpalas. The state patrol still uses Crown Vics, though.

I think the visibility is more of an issue than the trunk space, but both are good points. The trunk is relatively big, but compared to the crown vic its very small. Those cars have HUGE trunks. Our county police is slowly switching to magnums and chargers. There are a few city cops with chargers. But all of our state police use the crown vic.

Re: Dodge Charger Police Cars

I thought the Charger police cars had the V8? All out state troopers have switched and the city is slowly switching over.

Charger police models come with either the six or the eight, for example the NYPD ordered both, with the HEMI V-8's going to their Highway Units.

Exactly. Most of the city guys will get the 6 cylinder, and the highway cops get the HEMI.

Re: Dodge Charger Police Cars

My old 9c1 was a highway cruiser and man those new chargers make it look like a rolling turd which it was to a great degree.A few days back I had our local johnny law on my ass in the new charger and it looked so mean all in black I was freaking thinking I had been speeding he rode right up on me in my C5 and smiled as he blew right by me almost taunting me.I didn't bite!
The state police here still drive the crown vic's the county guys seem to all be going to the charger Rt around here and there all stealth black with logos you can barley see which make the car damn hard to spot..Man those stock tires and rims actually look great!

Sweet rides!
