Re: Dodge to cut back on greedy dealerships

I hope that everyone who has gotten the run around on getting a Challenger has made their voices heard to Chrysler. Maybe Chrysler is finally listening to what the the slimeball dealers have been doing by playing games with pricing on the new Challenger.

...not yet. Take a look at this e-mail I got from one of the dealers in SoCal I've been trying to purchase a Challenger from...

Hello Patrick XXXXXXX,

XXXXXXXX Dodge is excited to announce the impending arrival for the 2009 Dodge Challenger. After a very limited 2008 production, Dodge is offering a Challenger for every budget and household. While there are now three different models to chose from, the Challenger retains its bold retro look and eye-catching styling that made the 2008 models a sellout! We are taking deposits on a 1st come 1st served basis on the following models so please contact your sales representative today.

- 2009 Dodge Challenger S/E comes equipped with a 3.5 Liter High Output V6 churning out 250 horses and starts at $21,995 including destination.

- 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T jumps into the HEMI territory with a 5.7 Liter V8 with up to 375 ponies with standard 18" inch wheels and starts at $29,995 including destination.

- 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 will tear the asphalt to shreds with its 6.1 Liter SRT HEMI V8 with a heart pumping 425 prancing ponies, standard 20" wheels and other SRT only features and starts at $41,795 including destination. (Please obey the rules of the road!)

Our pricing for the 2009 Challenger is aggressive. The S/E will be priced at MSRP+$2000*, the R/T at MSRP+$4000* and the SRT-8 at MSRP+$8000*. I promise you, these vehicles won't last!

Best Regards,

XXXXXXXX Dodge Internet Sales Team

The tragic thing is, they still have almost their full allotment of 2008 SRT's still sitting with nearly $20,000 markup and now this POS markup on the 2009's! When will they learn? "...these vehicles won't last!"?

Re: Dodge to cut back on greedy dealerships

The challenger eats horse meat....Blood dribbles from the tail pipes."We dont need no sticking ponies"!

I would be more concerned about "prancing ponies" that are supposedly in my engine if I get an SRT8 through that dealer. Prancing? seriously? "Prancing" ponies belong nowhere near my Challenger. My ponies are bloodthirsty, enraged, venom spewing, 1st-born eating ponies with a mane of fire... not sure about you guys...

Re: Dodge to cut back on greedy dealerships

You are all missing the big picture here..

in 4 or 5 years, we will STILL be able to buy a brand new 2008 or 2009 Challenger..

How cool is that..

Re: Dodge to cut back on greedy dealerships

Here is my tale of two dealers. The first was glad to order my R/T for only 5K over MSRP. The second was also glad to do the same for $1,800 under MSRP. Both are long time established dealers within 30 miles of my home and this is not the first time I have seen them do this. Guess which one sold me the car?? Over the years this dealer has sold us company trucks, and vans for one reason, straight talk, no crap, good pricing, good service. And I do shop. Regardless of what business you are in, these fundamentals always apply. No one likes to feel like they need a shower after leaving the showroom.

I am not sue why, but it seems a lot of auto dealers seem to forget these customer relations fundamenals. Maybe some should go away.
