Re: dodge dealer just called

went to the atlantic city car auction and saw a 71 challenger with a 6.4 hemi crate motor the guy said it was pushing 565 hp this was auctioned off it was totally redone in a copper color black interior unfortunatley i waited for ever to see this cars final tally on the block but couldnt hang around anymore i wonder what it brought in .i was most shocked to see the 6.4 in it because i thought you couldnt even get them yet .this car was done right whoever got it is a lucky man .as far as the new challenger i think im waiting for the latter to to many gouging dealers give it 1 or 2 years theyll drop below msrp

Re: dodge dealer just called

I just got this reply Monday. I don't think Chrysler wants to sell cars anymore.
A 3 year wait? Alot of aspiring Dodge customers will end up in Fords and Chevys.

Hi XXXXX,

I have been told that it will be some time next month, but we really don't know for sure. I can tell you that there will only be one, and we have no idea of what options, color etc. the car will have/be. The car will be sold for well over the MSRP price, due to the high demand, and the low production.

We do have a waiting list (going on 3yrs) so, I am going to assume that we will start at the top of the list and work our way down.

Sorry I can't be of more help, that is all that has been told so far.

Thank you,

Hello XXXX,
When will you have the new Challengers in?
I am looking for a 2009 SRT8, 6.1 or 6.4L Hemi, 6-speed manual transmission and 3.92 limited slip rear end.
Thanks,
XXXXX

Re: dodge dealer just called

Palerider, who did you get this from? 3 years. Are you saying we should not try to get a Challenger? Shoot, if this is the case, I'll get the 300 SRT I have been looking at.

Re: dodge dealer just called

I would want some clarification. Each 5-star dealer is getting 1 2008 Challenger SRT8 (in canada, slightly more maybe in the US). I don't think there have been any numbers mentioned about 2009 production.

As for the list. If they don't know how many are going to be made, they can't know how long it will take to get through their list. Maybe he/she meant that they've been keeping a list for three years but there might only be 6 people on it.

Lastly, any dealer that tells people right up front that its basically going to be a bidding war over msrp should just be ignored and you should go look for another dealer.

just my thoughts.

Re: dodge dealer just called

Palerider is not getting any different info than I am getting. Two of the dealerships near me are only getting 1 Chally a piece, it will be Hemi Orange and have all available options, moonroof, My Gig, etc.

They both stated that for a $500 depoit, they will include you in a bid process for the car, with the highest bidder getting the car. I told them to hell with that, you can keep your 08, I wanted a manual anyway. It is a shame they are doing this and I even wonder if they can, but due to supply and demand, I see why not.

Re: dodge dealer just called

Palerider,

This is exactly what most people are getting when the even inquire about the Challenger. Most of us in here are smarter than that to believe that is all they will get. It is disturbing that the dealerships are spouting this anti Dodge, anti Challenger info.

The dealership has become the Sales Prevention department of Chrylser. I hope you forward your message with the dealerships info to chryslerlistens.com and maybe forward it to Tom LaSorda or Jim Press.

I have my deposit down and my name is on the VON and my dealership has been telling me the same thing.

If Chrysler wanted it to be such a limited car, why would they introduce the R/T and SE? Chrysler needs to get their hands around the necks of the dealerships that keep doing this.

Good luck on your quest for your Challenger.
