Dodge!!! Please hear me out....

I just finished getting off your site and I was pleasantly suprised to see your new motto "you speak, we listen" on the title page. I give you guys credit for creating the Challenger, but you sold out a lot of us die hard fans that help sell your cars by proudly supporting the mopar heritage by not listening hard enough.Hopefully the chargers and challengers get redesigned in 09 or 10 because honestly I wont buy another Dodge unless they start making the R/t's and srt8's more sporty and upgrade the interior with quality materials like they did with the new dodge ram, also a 6.4, 6 speed manual and LSD is a must and at least a 400lb or more weight reduction. If dodge cant put a package like this together by the end of 11 or 12 then im going to have no choice but to break up with mopar gulp, please dont let me down guys. The Hemi is on its last leg and I want the ultimate car from u guys to keep forever and proudly show my kids what a v8 muscle car felt and sounded like.

Re: Dodge!!! Please hear me out....

Wow, sounds pretty heart felt, I think it may have fell on deaf ears, eversince 1975 federal regulation on cars have gotten worse, they've always had more room to move with trucks though. Bigger engines and what not. I guessing there will be a huge aftermarket, to make them how they should have been. In the meanwhile they will keep shoving these big boxy, crosshaired grilled things that they THINK people will buy?????

Lets just hope the boys over at Dodge answer our call and finally give us what we have been waiting for years. Ford and GM give their hardcore fans what they want but chrysler has been becoming stingy about profits and left us hardcore fans having to spend silly money making the current LX's and LY's respectful because of their hefty two ton weight. The convertible better not have a B-pillar and IM praying they shave some weight from it because i plan on dropping a 6.4 Hemi crate in that bad boy with a removable low profile low cage to create badass streetable torque monster. Just imagine that thing on sticky tires with a tune and a 75/100hp two stage nitro shots. Can I say king of the road, lets see, imagine:

3900lbs factory challenger
6.4 Hemi (extend the hood 3-4 inches to make room for that big boy on long tube headers)
6 speed
on 19/20 lightweight performance rims

this sounds like a 4sec. 0-60 and possibly 3.5 with minor aftermarket performance mods. Will definatley hang with the new GT-R Skyline and more with a blower and a pair of stickys with an LSD, which would help get all that torque to the ground, but consistency will be the key since the GT-R's supposidly nail 11.9's consistently like clockwork because of the cheap four wheel drive traction program on that thing, instead of pegging on one wheel like our super sucky open differential, the GT-R turns into a 4 wheel drive under hard acceleration when tractions is slippery, it supposidly has a sensor that monitors tire grip every .1000 of a second. Thats fun for the track but it kind of makes it seem like cheating, plus everyone knows that the best way to go sideways is with a push from the rear. Has anyone seen the slow motion pics of the black charger goin sideways in slow motion, now just picture convertible and speed it up to speed and thats gona be me, weeeee!!!!

Hopefully the aftermarket gets in on the lightweight parts, supposidly the super stock version weighs 800lbs less, so i figured i could probably use some of those parts to remove around 400lbs and still keep the stock look.

Re: Dodge!!! Please hear me out....

I agree with one thing -- the 2nd Muscle Car era is winding down. There will be a 3rd -- but with turbo-diesel 6 cylinders or something.

I agree on your sentiment of having a car you love so much you can keep it many, many years and really cherish it.

If all that is holding you back is interior quality, why not pay the car off and then go to a custom interior shop and have them replace everything with nice materials. Not cheap but say it is $3,000? Deal breaker?

Or is just the idea that you won't have an all-original collector then? Yes, they should have put much more effort into the interior and I believe people would have paid the $2,000 premium it commanded.

I'm starting to wonder that the US automakers really need to offer a premium interior on their top-level cars as an option. They then could send these cars to the mags for rave reviews, and the folks who want them would have them, even if nosebleed expensive. Like what Chevy is doing with the 2008 Vette. If you want cheap, you get stuck with the crappy base interior, but at least you HAVE a choice...

Re: Dodge!!! Please hear me out....

Was anyone else dissapointed with the back end of the Challenger? Instead of imbedding the word Dodge in the tail lights, there is a cheap looking plaque hanging in the middle. A huge letdown from the Concept car. The front grill is not as nice on the production vehicle either.

Re: Dodge!!! Please hear me out....

I like the present grill WAY better than the concept, the rear end as well. I do wish the grill looked more like a '71 though!!!! I will be buying a 2010 SRT 8 fully loaded, with sun roof!

Agreed. The Front End looks better than the Prototype. Cleaner and more truer to the origional 1970 era. I like the 70 grille better than the 71. Rear End looks fine as well. Some are griping about the three section taillight bar, but, that's to accomidate the cut out in the trunk opening for better access. I appreciate that, as well.

I'll get an '09, SRT8, Fully Loaded with the Trak Pak, and the VVT 6.1 Hemi. I want more power than what's in my '06 300C/SRT8.

Re: Dodge!!! Please hear me out....

I just came from the Philly Auto Show. The photos of the Challenger do not do it justice. The grill and tail-light treatments really add to the retro look.

When you see the car in person, who get a very bad case of Challenger fever and forget all of the little nit-picking things like the guages, rams head emblem, windshield washer nozzles, etc. All you want to do is drive it home!
