Explanation to the MSRP increase scare

I like most of you was pretty pissed at the hike in the msrp of the challenger. So I went online to search for the explanation and discovered that there really was not an increase... I repeat there is no msrp increase. Dodge did this clever little thing in which it included the track pac into the base price of the challenger so that along with destination, it looked as if it was $30,990.

-However if you go into 'build your own' and deselect the track pac, it will announce that the price will decrease $995-

-Now the msrp is back where it should be with the base price $29,320 and the dest. charge of $675 brings back to the original msrp-

I gotta admit i was scared for a bit

Re: Explanation to the MSRP increase scare

Maybe it's a ploy to sell more Track Pac options?

The $29,320 base price was increased October 3rd by $500. It is now $29,820 plus destination.

The destination price was increased at the same time by $50.00, it is now $725.00.

Re: Explanation to the MSRP increase scare

I read the story at Automotive News online site. There is an across the board increase on all Chrysler LLC products. Orders already in the pipeline are not affected. The article also states that Chrylser has done a good job of holding the line on prices compared to Ford and GM who's increases were much higher. It's a fact of life that the cost of things go up. Case in point, I paid $3895.00 for my 1973 Challenger and $38755.00 for my 2009 Challenger.
