My service manual actually States every 6 months or 8000 miles. :what:
I've always change my synthetic oil at 5000 miles. It just so happened at the exact 6 month mark I was at 5010 miles on the odometer.
I used Mobil 1 full synthetic and the Mopar filter. I have used Mobil 1 full synthetic in all my vehicles.

Actually, the 8000 mile intervals are just for service. It doesn't say anywhere that at 8000 miles that is your first oil change. It just says to change the oil. I know today's cars and engines are far more advanced but in my opinion, you would be crazy to wait 8000 miles before your 1st oil change.

I also do the first one at 1000 miles, and the rest with synthetic will be every six months as I will only do about 5000 per year.
Just so you are aware our cars use 0W-40 mobil 1. Dodge did change it from 5W-40.
I know that the manual say's to change the oil at 6000 miles but should the first oil change be done before that and at what mileage?
Also was thinking of changing to Royal Purple but what are everyons thoughts or recommendations?
I would suggest visiting - Bob is the Oil Guy and do a little research if you want any sort of real information on this subject. Their site and forum is dedicated to the subject with participation from knowledgeable members and experts in related professions/industries. ….otherwise you will get feedback based mostly on unsupported assumptions IMO/IME.
