Fraudulent Dealers

I know a number of threads on the forum have addressed dealer issues, but today I came across two dealers in TX that have sunk to the bottom and engaged in outright fraud.
First, Bonham Dodge in Bonham, TX advertised on their website a fully loaded '08 for MSRP (The ad stated MSRP $41,985, selling price $41,985). When I e-mailed them, I got a message back saying that they would sell me the car for $50k.
Second is Bankston Dodge(an Auto Nation dealer) in Grand Prairie, TX (Dallas burb). Their website listed 3 loaded SRTs and advertised MSRP $41,985, "Online Price" $40,941 (link below). When I called them they told me the "online price" was MSRP and that was how they listed them. She then proceeded to tell me the MAP was $15k over.

Re: Fraudulent Dealers

Kinda bad when you're embarrassed with your own pricing that you have to mimic a reasonable price to drum up interest before you drop a bomb on the prospective customer. Have to give it to them though, they wouldn't even get a call if they listed it at the true price they were asking. Deception is their only tool when they're asking that much.

Re: Fraudulent Dealers

and dont forget those prices are never out the door... add in tax, title, documentation, any state fees, and so on.

You're EASILY looking at an extra 3k alone on MSRP

You should report both dealers to the Better Business Bureau and the Texas State Attorney General's Office (Div. of Consumer Fraud). Other potential buyers should know about their unscrupulous business practices.

Re: Fraudulent Dealers

I have filed a complaint with the TX AG's office and the Fed. Trade Comm. I working on filing a complaint with Chrysler. Also thinking about filing a TX Deceptive Trade Practices Act claim against them.
If any of you want to have some fun, you should call the internet sales manager, Stephanie Therriens, at 877-799-7384 and tell her you want to buy the $40k SRT.

Re: Fraudulent Dealers

If you really want to have some fun show up with local news... dealer's and the sales people hate the local news, especially when the cameras start rolling... call John Stossel.

Re: Fraudulent Dealers

You can add Dodge City of McKinney,TX to that list of scumbag dealerships.
I got burned by them as well on a car that I ordered on December 3rd.
They tacked on an additional 5k on the one they had agreed on selling at MSRP.

They also burned another friend of mine that was buying a Charger from them several months ago.

The sales manager there is the worst I have seen in years with any dealership.

Chrysler is looking at how this order and others were handled and are taking this into consideration as the consolidation of dealerships begins.

Re: Fraudulent Dealers

I got burned out of 2 verbal offers @ MSRP for 08's from N TX dealers before they started making them. Once they started making them, all the dealers in the area began marking them up.

I now have an order in for a 09 somewhere under MSRP. (That is another story that is going to be open to interpretation I am afraid )

What is that old saying...

If it seems to good to be true...

I think that pretty much applies here.
