Front License Plate Mounting

okay... I'm in TX so state law requires a front license plate. When I bought my '06 Charger it already had a license plate bracket and HOLES drilled in the bumper. I removed the front license plate and I've lived with the holes in my bumper thus far. I don't want the holes in my Challenger bumper if it can be prevented. I'm wondering if there is a way to delete the front license plate bracket from my '09 Challenger order.... or is this something that TX dealers (and other states that require it) apply on delivery?? This car looks way to good to have the front uglied up with a big ol' piece of cheap metal!!

Dont you get pulled over?

Fortunately AZ does not require a license plate, But I will still have to figure out a way to get rid of the bracket!

Another cure is a decent plate. I like the one on my truck.

Re: Front License Plate Mounting

maybe you can order from a dealer in a state that doesnt require the front plate. My Charger doesnt have a front bracket or the holes for it. Just an idea.

Re: Front License Plate Mounting

Dealers are the one that installs the license plate bracket. The bracket is usually in the trunk when it arrives at the dealership. I've always had them not installed the bracket. You just have to be clear with them up front that you wish to not have the bracket installed.

PlumWild is correct. You must make it perfectly clear to the dealership to NOT install the bracket.

Re: Front License Plate Mounting

don't worry, we won't be putting the bracket on ANY challengers that are ordered.

i sold many SRT-4s and none of them got the front bracket drilled either.

i will leave it up to you how to mount it.

I have been driving around in TX for about 10 years with my GTP. Was pulled over once for no front lic plate. Given a written warning.

I have also had 2-3 tickets. Don't recall any mention of the lic plate during those incidents.

Neighbors in OK don't have a front plate requirement. The way it should be.

Re: Front License Plate Mounting

I'm ordering my '09 out of state (Ohio) from where I live (Michigan). This thread reminds me that I gotta make sure to contact my dealer and tell them hell no on the front bracket as well. The ONE good thing about Michigan is that they don't require you destroy the appearance of your car with a front plate. Since Ohio does I gotta make sure my dealer doesn't put one on. I would cry if my Challenger had holes drilled in it.

Re: Front License Plate Mounting

As another option..........On my '04 goat after telling the dealer not to put the front license plate holder on and after a couple of warnings I ordered an SLP front license plate holder. It bolts up to the bumper under the car. It also doubles as a curb feeler when parking
