Re: Front License Plate Mounting

Just ask the dealer not to install the bracket. That's what I did on my Charger and they were happy to oblige. And for your Charger with the holes in the bumper, check out BumperPlugs

Re: Front License Plate Mounting

I'd tell the dealer not to do it, then get one of the under mounting units like tails suggested. Some of the Shelby guys have one that can fold back under when not in use for car shows.

Re: Front License Plate Mounting

Hey RoostKing...

to answer yor question. Not recently. Not with my '06 Charger that is. I believe local law enforcement leaves it alone mostly. It's a bigger deal with State Troopers. A few years ago I owned a Chevy Monte Carlo SS aerocoupe and a Pontiac Grand Prix 2+2. I got pulled over by local cops frequently for no license plate. I lived in a bad neighborhood at the time and they used it as probable cause to pull me over. No ticket though, only warnings. The only time I ever got a ticket for it was from a State Trooper on Mother's Day when my inspection was expired. I got a double whammy on that one... Apparently the Charger is not a vehicle that gets profiled much. Then again, threre are tons of cars that don't have front license plates. It makes it harder to enforce that way.

Fortunately AZ does not require a license plate, But I will still have to figure out a way to get rid of the bracket!

Re: Front License Plate Mounting

emailed Bob about it today just to make sure no one drills into my car. Great response.

No problem at all, It is forbidden in my Dealership to install a front license bracket on any performance vehicle. I will add an additional notice on your pre-delivery instructions to make for certain that there is no plate bracket on the front of your car.
Essentially forbidden for the dealer to drill into a performance car to mount a plate? Smart man =) He definitely understands how those of us who put orders in ASAP are nuts about the car.

I can rest easy knowing I won't have that crap on my front end.

Re: Front License Plate Mounting

FYI, there are two little nubs/pimples/nipples on the front bumper which are guides for the front plate holes.

Found them when I was waxing.

Fred at Fiesta was sure nobody drilled any holes in my beauty. I dont care what the fine is in TX for no front plate- Im not mounting one.

I believe there are 21 states that do not require a front license plate. Unfortunately, Texas is not one of them. Nevertheless, I have been driving my Solstice for 2.5 years without a front plate and have never had a problem.
Do an informal survey of cars/trucks with no front plate and you might be surprised. I would guess about 1/3 around here.
Better idea would be to contact your state representative with an idea to generate more revenue. $$ will get their attention.
If the state would simply do away with the front plate, but keep the price the same, just imagine how much it would save on material costs alone.
At least that's what I told my state congressman.

Re: Front License Plate Mounting

So anyone have a line on a vendor that sells one of the no drill brackets?

Here is the problem. I got no problem taking my chances with the police here in Texas. But my wife will have a hissy as soon as she sees we have no front plate. She pitched a fit when we got the Charger and she would not even take the car home until it had a front plate. Granted the challie is my car and not hers but still if you can avoid a fight by having a plan you are all the better off, right guys?
