Re: Future of Challenger?

I think it would be great to have a backseat delete and make it a real coupe lol. that should shed about 50-100lbs

Re: Future of Challenger?

I was thinking since they built the ss drag car and its about 800 lbs lighter than a stock chally you never know maybe over the next few years they will use the techniques used to lighten that car to also lighten the production Challenger its a good bet they will do this.

Re: Future of Challenger?

Someone is doing that for the mustangs, specifically for the SGT I think. I saw the prototype and it looked really well done. I would really like to have that done, but I think I need the practicality of the back ones for my DD.

Re: Future of Challenger?

Hit enter to soon doh! I HATE taking people back there, but they always want to ride in the Shelby, so I can't disappoint! If it didn't have a back seat problem solved.....

LOL.
A buddy of mine had a metallic dark green one. He put air shocks in the back and chrome wheels on it. It was a fun ride for teenagers in the late 1980's.

We used to mimic ol' Ricardo all the time. Corrrrrrr-DO-bah!

Re: Future of Challenger?

I remember well the landau tops and the rich Corinthian leather!

I ran into a local guy back a few years ago who had like 6 of them in his yard he was piecing together.
The one car he was in ran fine but the interior looked like someone took a cheese grater to the seats, but for 20+ years old I was amazed how well the car held together.
I thought to myself good for him that is what a car guys passion is all about working with what you have and finding that niche.
The Monte Carlos were big in my hood back in the day.

Popular Hotrodding has an article, entitled "The Fish that Got Away." It contains the full story about the aborted 3rd generation 'Cuda.

I am glad that they did not build it. The design was bad.

Re: Future of Challenger?

What the hell was that thing I'm glad they didn't pursue that design, but they should have built the charger concept for 2000 that car was just like a evolved charger would have looked like.It actually looked like a UK charger from the early 70's.The UK charger was a cool car and Ive only seen a few of them.

The fish that got away looked like a left over from the old TV series Buck Rodgers thank god we all dodged that bullet.
Thankyou for sharing that with us.
