G5 Challengers
Hey all,
Thought I'd give an update on the G5 Challengers. We have our "teaser page" up and running. G5 Challenger There's a bunch of pics that are cleaner and larger for viewing as well as both renderings front and rear 3/4 views of our #77 Posey New Challenger Truibute Concept that we developed as a SEMA 2008 concept. For more info on the G5 Challenger Concepts please feel free to call Chris Wilkins at Group 5 Limited. We need your input on the types of modifications you'd like to see on a new Challenger or what you'd like to see as far as aftermarket specific parts. Thanks, John |

Re: G5 Challengers
While I'm at it - I love the diffuser onthat Lime Green Rear Bumper ! The orange convertible too - mucho better than stock - it has the right stance with black lower valance ! You do draw awesome cars - hopefully it's as close to drawings in production !
Oh and that convertible spoiler is awesome , just as the Lime Green - would be hard-pressed to choose !

Re: G5 Challengers
Cool - I get to answer some styling questions. Thanks for all the compliments.
The wheels are really a combination of things. I started out by looking at the original Magnum wheels that came on a lot of the late 60s and early 70s Mopars and thought I'd start there. I knew I wanted a spoke that flared outward a little from the wheel center out. I also wanted the lug pattern sunk in with a nice center cap. The reason for the "dish" shape around the lug pattern cam from looking at the rally wheels. The gray webbing between the spokes is somewhat of a stylized magnum with the slotted openings only a little larger to allow for good brake cooling. I wanted the wheel to be modern but have some vintage muscle flavor or feeling to it like the Challenger has. To finish it off, I also wanted to add in machined fasteners around the outside of the spokes to give it an aggressive race car touch. The wheel needs to fit the car and I designed it just for Challenger. Although I think it would also look at home on a modern LX platform Charger! Imagine a black Charger or even a silver one with black wheel spoke recesses?! As far as pushing the spokes in more (like an IROC wheel) could be done but I have to keep wheel offset in mind too and I wanted to make sure that the car had some wheel lip to it. I am working on a second type of wheel that could be optional as well. The rear diffuser seemed almost natural for the G5/R being a race-inspired street car but on the Posey Concept - it just had to be there no ifs, ands, or buts! It would also be functional allowing are being caught behind the bumper lip to exit out and the bottom diffuser would help direct air off the back of the car some. If some of you guys are wondering about the giant front sheetmetal spoiler - it's gonna be just like that LOL! It will actually have quick release system so that it is detachable and underneath it is a molded in fascia chin that looks like the lower chin of the G5/S with beefier supports of somekind underneath. I'd just love to see this car flying into the corner with rotors glowin' and a flame belching outta the side exiting exhaust!!! |

Re: G5 Challengers
Dude, you need to quit your day job and design this full time!
I love the look on the tail of the orange and green challenger you did, it looks hot. If you can't be a degisn guy for the car company, you should work with some aftermarket product company. I would love to add that to mine when they deliver them. |

Re: G5 Challengers
...jptxchallenger - glad you like the rear bumper styling. Other than the functionality of the lower rear diffuser, it also helps to break up some of the height of the stock Challenger bumper.
I am currently working closely with Chris Wilkins at Group 5 who is a licensed automotive manufacturer. I handle the design and styling inside and out on the project as well as develop other marketing materials and artwork needed. The intention is that Group 5 will build G5/S and G5/R Challengers in conjunction with Dodge dealers. Group 5 has been talking with a few dealers who are very interested in a dealer program so that you the enthusiast may be able to order your Challenger equipped with one of the G5 Packages on your Challenger right from the dealer with all your mods rolled into one nice deal. Dave Waller and Rob Wolf of MCG Publishing have been very instrumental in helping us with the G5 Challenger dealer program and marketing. Chris and I can't thank these guys enough. If anyone has a Challenger on order, and would like to have their Challenger outfitted with a G5/S, G5/SC, or the bad to the bone G5/R please contact Chris Wilkins at Group 5 Ltd. 480-610-1840 for more info. Be the first guy to have a G5 Challenger and also have it debut at SEMA 2008. |
