Re: Giving up on the Challenger

I too was screwed by 2 dealerships. 1st one agreed informally to MRSP and then the salesrep & sales manager left and the new sales manager said the 08's are going to highest bidder.

2nd dealer, I was #13 in line for a Challenger and they originally were going to offer the 08 @ MSRP. Well that tune changed as it got closer and my salesrep there left as well. They offered me a 09 @ MSRP but I figured I could do better now. I went back to some other dealerships I spoke to in the past and worked out a deal for a 09 SRT for under sticker directly with the sales manager. Estimated deliver in October which is pretty close considering I have been waiting 3 years.

You see I almost pulled the trigger on a SRT Charger. It was then I first laid eyes on the concept Challenger. I knew I would never be happy with the Charger once these hit the streets so I sucked it up and waited as I did not want to take a big depreciation hit in value on a new Charger.

Well my patience (and persistence) will soon pay off.

Re: Giving up on the Challenger

If you have to have the latest and greatest, you are going to pay!!!!! 12 short months from now 08 challeys will sell for less than invoice with less than 5000 miles IMHO.....Dodge will also have incentives on Challeys (not SRT) IMHO My Dodge dealer called and asked me if I wanted a 08 at MSRP, I said no but thanks for calling...He know I will wait for a deal, probably used. He sold 5 all at MSRP...No big deal, course I live in a small town.....happy hunting!!

Re: Giving up on the Challenger

Seee, that's one reason I started the thread 'Can Challengertalk Become a Dodge Dealership' as well as stating/theorizing that Chrysler/Dodge {Plymouth} should initiate a " Buy Direct From the [ Brampton] Factory" program !!! I remember years ago , one of my Uncle's would go up to Detroit from Miami,Florida to pick up a new Cadillac. I don't know how he was able to do that ; if it was because he was in the Marines [with Ted Williams/went fishing with, too / John Glenn or had an in with some "high up" at GM/Cadillac ]and had an arrangement like Chrysler's Military Sales Corp. does } !!! If Chrysler /Nardelli & crew did this , maybe ,just maybe the gouging dealers/dishonest/ or lacking in proper business ethics: would "tow the line" . Also, I think Challengertalkers should get priority;especially when DCX would 'look in on us' here periodically. I just wonder how many of our ideas they read from all of us ,they took and implimented or plan to. I, Ragamuffin am willing and/or open to suggestions on leading a Mopar Retro Revolution up to Chrysler Headquarters demanding that all bonifide Challengertalkers get some !!!!

I know I was very vocal (here & elsewhere) on how much of a travesty it was not to offer the 09 SRT in Hemi Orange. I know some of the 08 guys feel cheated because they thought they were going to be exclusive. But when you think about it, it was already offered on the 09 R/T so that argument goes out the window at that point.

I for one am glad you did!

I am really surprised that they did not bring back more retro colors.

I love GO Mango!

Re: Giving up on the Challenger

well, I'm now glad I gave up on the 08 Challenger now that the 09 Challenger details are announced and they have a manual six speed transmission which is much cooler than the automatic transmission of the 08. Hah, someone is watching over me from up there ;-)
