Hemi Engine Cover: Form or Function?

Does the plastic hemi engine cover serve a purpose other than to make things look cleaner under the hood? It seems to trap a lot of heat. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Mostly for noise control since the injectors make a lot ticking. The foam insulation stuck to the underside absorbs most of the sound.

It's just a heat trap and it adds 5 lb., remove it and hang it on the wall!!!

your intake is probably retaining more heat than that engine cover ever will.

you should invest in a plastic or carbon fiber one

that maybe true but once you customize it, it will look terrific. I had mine painted add then added a decal. then added some chrome pieces. I need to take some pics to post. it is eye catching.

In case you forget, the cover reminds you (in BIG capital letters) that your engine is, indeed, a HEMI. With her typically wry sense of humor, my wife has remarked that it looks like a toilet lid . But, she drives an Accord so what the hell does she know ...
