Hood Stripes, or No Hood Stripes?

Hi all,
Just curious for any of you experienced hood stripers, are you getting them, or not? I ordered them, but now I'm wondering on my black SRT, would it look better to not have them? Are they easy to maintain, and can I get taken off later if I don't like them? Do you wax them, or not? Thanks everyone.

Re: Hood Stripes, or No Hood Stripes?

I have vinyl stripes on my Shelby. I'd assume they're the same on the Challenger. I think it'll look sweet on the Black car, but that's just me. I've had no problems with the ones on my mustang (silver colored). I know some are having problems with water spots, but I think that's due to improper care. I just treat 'em like the rest of the car, and wax right over them. I usually don't just go straight from metal to the stripe though. I jump up to go from one to the other. I wouldn't use a buffer either.

Also the stripes can be removed if you don't like it.

Re: Hood Stripes, or No Hood Stripes?

I personally like the flat black on black look it really grows on you after a while, and its how most all the older black mopars where built back in the day.
Example: Most Black TA's all had black striping back in the day.
I'm looking forward to the hood stripe it will add depth of field to the vehicle imo.
The more it fades and flattens the better it will look ,plus Im sure a local body shop can hook you up if you really don't like it,but I have a feeling it will grow on you.
If I didnt go black I would do what kelsey said and go silver or grey!
Without the stripe it will look like an RT which may actually be fun when you run across an RT driver that doesn't realize your in an SRT8..
Can you say snack time!!!LOL.
Good question its all up to personal preference.

Yeah! We are talking on the other thread about this? How do I add this option to my existing order? Can it be done through the dealership I ordered it from, or added as an option? If so, what's the code for it because I don't see it on the options list.

Re: Hood Stripes, or No Hood Stripes?

The dealer will have the code by June for you and they will do it all for you at the dealership not the factory.
Most options will have the codes released by June so make sure your hot on your dealer for this stuff, and when to order this stuff as well.Hope this helps.

Re: Hood Stripes, or No Hood Stripes?

Take a look on the Charger forum. I believe there were some tips on caring for the decals as well as some complaints. It has been so long, I don't really recall what was actually being said.

I wonder what the R/T stripe is supposed to look like? Anyone seen a pic of what they look like?

Re: Hood Stripes, or No Hood Stripes?

I ordered my 2009 SRT Challenger with the hood decal. I want it to stand out from the R/Ts and SEs. (It feels great to say my SRT Challenger!)

Some guys are using Nano Wax or Turtle Wax Ice on their decals. I checked with Meguiars and they advised me to use the same NXT Tech Wax that I use on the rest of the car to protect the finish of the decal.
